Been having some real issues getting Battlefield 4 on the PC to recognize the axis for the throttle, and some other things are kind of glitchy when configuring certain actions for buttons 7-12. Does anyone have any suggestions for this, other than EA/DICE fixing their game to support this joystick?

Were you mapping controls to the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro within the game? If you are, a possible work around that I can think of is to map keyboard commands to the joystick using the Logitech Profiler Software. For example, if in Battlefield 4, you can use the arrow key for throttle, you can map the arrow key to the joystick with the profiler.
