I purchased a LOGITECH TV CAM HD and hooked it up to my mother's TV set.
It appears to work fine, hooked to her VIZIO TV.
However, her setup is kind of typical: The TV has a DVD player, a cable set-top box, etc. plugged into it. My dear mom, who is 90 years old, is probably not going to be able to answer a Skype call on this. If she could manage to switch the TV to the HDMI input for a call, then she would no longer be able to get back to watching cable TV later. And vice versa. In other words, the TV, with multiple inputs, is too complicated to ask her to switch regularly.
My next idea is to buy her another piece of equipment. A computer monitor with HDMI input and built-in speakers. I would just plug the TV Cam into it instead. When my call comes in, she just has to answer it on the monitor. No messing around with the TV.
The question, of course, is: does this work? Can a computer monitor with HDMI input and speakers (for example, the ASUS VE248H) do the job, or is there something else I am missing?

The Logitech TV Cam HD can work with any HDTV or HD monitor as long as they have an HDMI input. Therefore, if your monitor has a HDMI port then you wouldn't have a problem, however, we can not guarantee that with the Audio that will depend if your HD monitor is able to output sound.
