Is Vid capable of 1920x1080 resolution with a C920 webam? I can't find any such spec but in actual experience I never go to 1080p.
I'm running:
Windows 7 (x64) SP1
Vid from the lws240C920 instller (I can't find anywhere in Vid itself where it reports a version number)
Fiber Internet connection - 25/25 mb/s
I have Vid set to start connection at 3072.
Test connection is to a Win 7 laptop with a C510 on my LAN. A call starts right at 1280x720 but the desktop machine never goes to 1080p.
Is that a limitation of Vid?

Hello;
Vid HDs maximum resolution is currently 1280x720.
See this LINK for additional information.
As an additional note, we suggest leaving the maximum download and upload speed settings at their default values of 1536 / 1536.
Thanks

Ok and thanks.
Out of curiosity, why recommend restricting to 1536 is bandwidth isn't an issue for the user?

Hello pilut;
As a general rule, users should not need to alter any of the advanced settings as the Vid HD client has built in auto tuning that helps optimize the call quality from end to end.
If users alter these settings, they may introduce factors that can degrade call quality.
As for bandwidth, typically a 1280 x 720 call at 30 FPS won't need to exceeed 1536 kbps down or up.
If you and your contacts are not experiencing any quality issues, you can leave your setting as is. If you do, end the call, go back to defaults and clear the tuning history. Then start you calls again.
Thanks

Well, for whatever it's worth, I've found that if I leave everything set to default it takes a minute or more for call quality to be negotiated and for HD to show in the lower right hand corner.
On the other hand, if I set options to start my calls at 3072, and uncheck Let Vid HD decide, the call starts immediately in HD and all is well.
This is assuming that I know in advance that the part I'm calling has more-or-less unlimited bandwidth, as do I. (25/25 mb/s fiber.)
