QoS setting (DD-WRT)

hi,

I've spent the last couple of hours searching the web but did not find anything obvious.  I'm a new Revue owner and have been testing Vid HD for the past few days.  I like it a lot more than other competing software, it is easy to use and the video quality is better.

I would like to know how to set up QoS on my DD-WRT router so that Vid always get priority.  I do notice that during heavy load, Vid does drop in video quality and sometimes even dropps calls.

Does Vid use particular ports or protocol that allows one to specify QoS based on them?  I guess I can always set up QoS based on MAC address of the Revue but Vid is the only program I like to give priority to.

thanks in advance,

Re: QoS setting (DD-WRT)

Hi anisotropic7,

I completely understand your situation anisotropic7 and I will be more than glad to help you with any concerns you might have with our Logitech Revue and the VID HD Application.

Our Logitech VID HD Application uses the ports 9000-9005

You might find this steps helpful:

To configure your Zone Alarm firewall to work with Logitech Vid, please do the following:

  1. Open Zone Alarm (Start > Programs > Zone Alarm).

  2. Click on the Firewall link on the left side. In the Internet Zone Security area, click the Custom button.

  3. Select the Internet Zone tab and scroll down until the option stating "Allow incoming/outgoing UDP ports" is visible.

  4. Select both boxes and enter in the Ports area located at the bottom of the screen the numbers 9000-9005.

  5. Click Apply to save the changes and the main menu for the fire wall option is visible again.

  6. Select the Trusted Zone tab and repeat steps 4-5.

  7. Your Zone Alarm firewall should now be configured to work with Logtiech Vid.

Also, if you want to give priority for our Logitech VID HD Software, I highly recommend you to contact your Router Manufacturer in order to change those settings.

I wish I was able to provide you with the steps in order to do that but unfortunately this settings are not from any Logitech Product.

I hope you find all of this information helpful.

    Kind regards,
