Logitech,
I liked Logitech Vid so much I upgraded/bought new Logitech c910 camera's for myself, kid, and parents (and am recycling old cameras to get other people to join up). The video quality is much better than skype or others, it reminds me of the old peer-to-peer camera days.
After about 4 months of good behavior, Logitech Vid stopped working correctly late February. I see from another post that I'm not the only one. I can still talk to my daughter (from my Win 7 desktop at home with this same c910 camera, not from this Win XP laptop) , but my mom with Windows 7 and a c910 is cut off.
For a while Mom could see calls come in, but could not pick up. She could then call us back. Now mom appears to allow outbound calls, but they never show up at the other end (i.e. I never receive them as inbound calls in XP on my travelling laptop).
My daughter has shown "busy" for the last week (even with the computer off). She was not on Logitech Vid for a solid week; we talked via regular phone. Her computer was rebooted and also left off trying to get Logitech to reset. It finally cleared today, after 5 days of being turned off.
I am now at Mom's to try and get her Vid working. All firewalls/av uninstalled, with her camera on. She is connected directly to her Motorola U10C018.80 Cable Modem.
My Laptop XP computer is currently at my mom's house, but hooked up to a neighbor via Linksys wireless router (not Dlink--I've fixed that problem before). I have Symentic Endpoint 12, but it is currently disabled.
- On my Windows XP Laptop with c910 camera, Symantec Endpoint 12 is disabled (it used to make called when enabled, I'm just being safe). Mom shows as "unavailable." I'm looking at mom's account--it's set to "available." If I call my mom's computer, I get the ougtoing ring and attempt (despite saying "unavailable,") but mom's Win 7 computer doesn't ring. Eventually it times out (Error #408) If I call my daughter, it works fine.
- On mom's Windows 7 computer with c910 camera and no firewall, my XP laptop behind me shows as "unavailable." It is set to "available." When I try to call XP Laptop, it won't even dial saying I may be offline.
In other words, we're both online and available, but we both show in each other's accounts as "unavailable."
- I logged out of my Laptop XP Vid and logged back in again. My status shows as " " (blank). It does offer the option to log out. It asks who do I want to call--everyone is unavailable, even Vidtest@logitech.com. After I try making a call, the status changes to "You are unable to receive calls." The practice call does work. Strangely, the box that usually has your camera advertisements is a gray rectangle with no advertisements in it, and the "close pop-up [x]" in the upper right.
So now I can't even receive your advertisements.
I have tried everything I could search on:
- Both computers can make practice calls.
- Mom's Win 7 computer had the most problems, so uninstalled Symantec AV (aka no firewall/antivirus software)
- My Laptop XP computer Symantec AV was disabled during testing.
- Mom's Win 7 computer can call vidtest@logitech.com and get 2-way audio/video, my Laptop Xp can't.
- I went through the device settings and cleared the tuning history on both computers
As mom can call me on my home desktop Win 7 (but I can't call mom with her Win 7), but Mom can't call me with Win XP, and I can't ever call my mom, I think that *both* our computers have problems. And that problem is Logitech Vid.
Logitech, you have a great program, when it works. Whatever you did in late Feb, please undo it.
In the meantime, how do I fix mom's computer before I go home so we can talk again?

Hello JoeBlow1234,
First please pm me the login names or email addresses of the parties involved in your problem.
Try deleting your contact that is having the problem then recreate it on your contact list.
You may also want to consider contacting Logitech Vid Support for help in this matter.
Thx,

PM sent.
This morning my mom's on her vid screen was marked as availalble (computer went to sleep mode overnight)
My status on my Vid screen was marked as available. No reboot, just in sleep mode overnight.
I tried calling her...no ringing on her computer.
She tried calling me...no ringing on my computer. After that, her showed me as busy. About a minute later it changed to "unavailable." My vid screen still shows me (and her icon) as available.
My mom (Win 7) can call logitech Vid 2 min Demo
My Windowx XP computer (firewall disabled) showed my mom as available....but showed lotitech Vid Demo as "unavailable." Not busy--unavailable. It would ring if I clicked on it, but would not pick up.
Again, I love the service up until it started acting funky. I'll be in and out today, and will try anything you suggest. For ease of typing, just call me Joe.
Thank you.

I returned home from my parents. My parents (LAN connection to their Win 7 computer) and the family next door (Linksys wi-fi connection to my Win XP laptop) use Suddenlink. As a reminder, Mom could only call out, including the Logitech Vid Test. I could do nothing although the rest of the internet worked fine.
I returned home, connected my same Win XP laptop via WiFi/Cisco router to Comcast. I can connect to Vidtest without problem.
At home, I set up a second account and older camera (Logitech V-UBE43) on Win 7. My XP laptop can see "other me" me and works fine as we call back and forth on Comcast. Note that on both computers, the advertisement box shows a rectangle with no advertisements inside where there used to be suggested upgrades.
I was also able to call my mom and have her pick up, and vice-versa.
Strangely, we're all using the same Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 (SEP12). I verified we have the exact same settings.
- Moms Win 7 computer I had to put in an SEP12 program exception so that incoming (not outgoing) calls would have an intrusion detection.
- My home Win 7 computer did *not* require a SEP12 program exception to operate properly.
- While at home, my Win XP laptop did *not* require a SEP12 program exception to operate properly.
Note: Mom got a couple of emails from Logitech (I didn't send anything from her account) indicating something had changed, I don't know what.
I'm happy it works now. I don't understand why it didn't work earlier. I don't understand why the firewall exception is sometimes needed, sometimes not. I don't know if you changed something on her account. But it works.
Thanks.
