What finally solved my mouse lag

MX5000, had it for 3 weeks, severe mouse lag, yada, yada

Read the forums, uninstall, reinstall, blah, blah, tried everything, still had lag.

Got a USB extension cable (didnt want to wait 10 days for the Logitech cable) and pointed the Bluetooth recevier straight UP (taped it to the wall).

No lag amymore.

Hope this helps someone. After a month I was just about to toss this set out the window. The dongle looks like crap taped to my wall but at least I have a working setup.

Hooray for me.

Re: What finally solved my mouse lag

Thank You Very Much!!

It worked for me! I have 3 diNovo Desktop Combos and when the extra usb extensions come in I can fix the other two setups.

I tried many other suggestions from the forum as well as what LITTLE Logitech has to offer on the subject. I no longer even use SetPoint on one of my computers (I'm very happy without it). I even stopped using the laser mouse for the last several months in favor of a wired Marble Mouse.

I thought it was strange that the bt transceiver did not have any cable on it, like all the other rf pucks I've seen, so that it can be placed where needed especially since it has that little button on it that needs to be pressed every so often.

Again, Thanks! You've made me very happy (I'm so easy to please, aren't I?)!  I firmly believe the punctuation to be correct in the last sentece. I learned how to use those exclamation points by watching Seinfeld!!!

Re: What finally solved my mouse lag

Welcome to the Logitech Online User Discussion Forum :smileyvery-happy:

SOLARSPEED & scottso, glad to see that your Logitech devices are working. You may also check the followings to avoid any intereference on the Bluetooth devices:

-  If other people in your home or near you in your office are also installing Bluetooth products, wait until they have finished installing their equipment before you try to fix this problem.

-  Sometimes when more than one device is being installed at the same time, the devices can connect to the wrong receiver.

- Using the devices on a metal desk or a desk with a metal frame can cause problems with these devices and their range. To resolve these types of issues, try moving the receiver at least 8 inches away from other electrical devices.

-  If you suspect your keyboard or mouse is connected to another receiver, press the Connect button on the device, then on the Bluetooth Wireless Hub again.

-Try connecting the receiver in another USB port that is available. Using the device in a USB hub or docking station might cause interference and let's eliminate all these possibilities.

- Check on the batteries as well as low batteries can cause interference as well. Make sure the mouse is getting charged in the adapter and the LED light should be green

Re: What finally solved my mouse lag

Mal, just to be clear about this . . .

The lag problem happened all of the time. There wasn't any installation conflict, no metal desk, no conflict with another receiver, the new extension cable (problem solved) is connected to the same usb port that the transceiver was connected to when it had problems, and the batteries were not the issue. Further, cell phones had no affect, my cordless phones operate at 5.8ghz and still have no affect on the blue tooth. All of the circumstances with regard to electrical, rf, surfaces, location of anything in my office is the same as it was with one exception and that is the bt transceiver is on an extension cable taped to my wall and I have no more problem.

I just received my other extension cables and installed one on the second of three diNovo desktops and that one no longer has lag.

Re: What finally solved my mouse lag

Hi Guys!

What Mal meant is that any problems regarding lag or interference can be caused by other external factors. However, I'm glad that you guys had managed to solve this problem with your own methods. Keep it up!

Re: What finally solved my mouse lag

I just tried this out now and I can say it works. Normally when I play Battlefield 2 my Bluetooth MX1000 laser lags so much I spend more time fighting with the mouse then in the game. I read this page and grabbed a 3 foot usb extension cable that game with my mp3 player. Took out the BT dongle and plugged the extension cable with the BT dongle at the end. I didn't mount it to my wall I just routed it up on my desk and faced it sideways towards my monitor. It's about two feet away from my mouse and the only thing in between them is my glass desk. It works though so it's all good. It works for me so it might work for you too =)
