well the G9 i have just this last wk has been doing some thing very weird. so far when ever i am gaming it will basically die. the lights on it are no longer on. and i get the M$ sound of the device being unplug type sound . and then it will do it again and the mouse will start working again. so far i have not used the software since the last few reformats i have had done.
but now i have both xp pro 32bit sp3 and vista ultimate 64bit sp1. both are in raid0 as it is listed in my sig. has this happen to anyone else before? also when i am in the options screens it acts like the mouse is not tracking well either. this is very wierd and that it just started doing this last wk. and it is getting worse.
i am now using my back up mouse, G7 and it has no problems at all. tracks well and games very well, all so i do not have the software installed. since i have found that it works well with out it and i can still key bind. but in vista the software does not see any device conncect to the pc. since this is the 1st time i have had the G7 installed on vista.
all so i have read the other threads about the coating on the covers peeling off. mine has done that from the 1st month of having the G9 in use. i do a lot of gaming so i thought it was just from that. now i see you do or did have a problem with that happening.
or should i start a RMA on the G9 i have since it is not a software issue and more of a hardware issue? or is there some thing else since i am now using the G7 with no issues of problem, beside that the software does not se it right now, but i have not restared yet.

The "mouse stops working while gaming" syndrome with the USB disconnect sound looks like a faulty cable issue.
this usualy happens at the base of the mouse and is triggered by rapid movements.
You may try to reproduce the issue by twisting slowly and carefully the cable at the point it is connected to the G9. if at some position the mouse stops working, and reconnect when you twist it back, the cable is faulty.
If your G9 is 2 weeks old, you may ask for a replacement.

no the G9 i is about 8 months old when i got it from Newegg. but now the G7 i have is doing the same thing but it is wireless. but it does not loose power and the transiever is 6" away.and it to does it on the desk top as well as in game. i will give this a shot with the G9 even though it needs to be sent in for repair/replacement any way.
and thank you for responding to my thread for some help on this matter.
Edit: i have notice with the G7 when the pointer stops. there is no sound my key board works. but if i unplug the transiever and then plug it back in it then will start working again. but this is getting bad. is there some thing else i can test or try to see what is at the cause of this to happen to 2 different mouse and 2 different OS ? since i have a dual boot set up.
and the battery is fully charged or not fully charge it seems not to matter at all when this happens and it is happning a lot now and seems to be getting worse by the mintue.

yeah the G9 does work and then don't work when i play with the cord. whichi now need to calllogitech and get that sent in for repairs.
but now the G7stop working even when i browse the internet. i been working on this all day with no sucess. and now i figure i try a usb pci card and see if that does any thing. well as i type this up it stop working twice so far. all so i notice that the lights on the G7 for the speed. would jump around just sitting there on my desk. it would go up 1 light bar and then back for no reason at all. and while this goes on the pointer will not work.
all so i have installed the latest set point driver from Logitech and during the install it ask if i want it to install the update, which i did. i will try 1 more thing which is to uninstall this driver and then find a older set point driver from like last yr or so. and see if it does it then. maybe i can get this narrowed down a little more.

well i finally got this figured out. both logitech mouse are junk plain and simple. since right now i have a Razor Lachesis mouse and it works flawlessly . since i played fall out 3 for well over 3 hrs with out a single stop from the mouse. and even was able to surf the net with out the pointer not working either.
the G9 mouse has a bad cable going into the mouse its self. and the G7 still has the changing speed/stop working in it. since every time it would stop the led would change to the next higher led for the speed seclection. which should not be happening since it is brand new and the 1st time i used since i got it back from logitech rma department.
well i guess here is another problem that got solved by none reps of the company that makes there product. just glad there is forums like these to look for help

Your G9 clearly shows signs of cable connection problem.
The G7 has way too many issue, specially the connection randomly dropping.. I had mine working for close to 2yrs before it showed all sorts of problem.. i decided to get a G9 instead only to face a broken right mouse button and it would take the distributor till next year to replace it.
Offtopic, i also have a G15v2 thats causing my boot to be 15seconds slower and now the logo on the palm rest area is eroding talk about bad luck 3 times in a row with logitech products, i should have gone with razer in the first place.

Alright so this is my first post on these forums.
I've had my G9 for the same amount of time, about 8 months now with no problems whatsoever, just bought some replacement mouse feet for it recently just cause I like the feel of new feet on a new mousepad. Also looks good next to my Logitech G15. =)
And just recently, the G9 mouse has been doing the same thing as mentioned above while gaming. Disconnecting from the usb port, lights going out on the mouse, and then 5 seconds later, reconnecting again. It happens during movement in FPS games which is clearly unacceptable. Actually, it even happens in windows now at random times, without the mouse moving quickly. So I took the above suggestion and gently twisted the cable and sure enough, the mouse goes to disconnect mode. So what do I do now? I tried to RMA back to newegg, but they said they needed the original box and packaging which it arrived in. Problem is, is that since the 8 months I've had it I have moved residences and now no longer have the box. I have everything else the G9 came with, all accessories, everything, just no box. So, will Logitech be able to do something for me since I paid a premium price only 8 months ago for this beast, or will they just shrug and say sorry? I'm hoping something will be able to be done here, whether it be that I send it in for repairs, or simply exchange for a new one. Warranty has definetely not expired obviously, and no abuse has been done to this mouse other than the FPS games which I play, normal usage. Also, about Scavenger's G9's covers peeling, my precision grip did the samething within first month of use as well. Hmm..
Unfortunately I don't have a spare mouse I can use since my old MX510 is feetless (ha), nor the money to purchase a decent one in the meantime. Hopefully something can be done here. For both mine and Scavenger's mice, Logitech should uphold the warranty placed upon the most premium gaming mouse they offer. I really don't want to have to look into Razer, I have always preferred Logitech. =)
Edit: Btw, I have already tried this mouse in several different USB ports on my computer to make sure it was not a faulty port first. Same problem, all ports. So then I even tried this mouse on my brothers computer and yep, same issue. So it's the mouse not the computer.
Any ideas someone, or Logitech admin? Thanks.

Were you using these mice at the same time on different computers ? or just one after the other when one stopped working ? it maybe as simple as signal interference from the mice itself ........ i tried (unsuccessfully of course) to use 2 G7 on two computers side by side and they both didn't work at all purely because they run on exact same frequency with no modulation at all (which was one thing old Logitech wireless mice were famous for) but they seem to thing that is a unesscary feature these days but thats about all i can think of right now.
or if you haven't read this thread below, do so it also may help

enjoy!
