Well folks, I don't have a cure, but I do have a "sorta-temp-workaround" that so far is doing ok for me.  Being COMPLETELY fed up with my G7, I bought a cheap laser mouse from wal-mart (I think it cost about 10 dollars).  I ran with that for general computer work and tried the G7 for gaming ( I was feeling masochistic what can I say) the good news is that it is currently running flawlessly. 

  I realize this should not be needed, and it's not a cure. What this does do however, is point out that the issue is NOT hardware, it is software.

  WIch of course puts the ball firmly in the hands of Logitech.

its actually kinda funny listen to you guys talk about how much you dislike logitech support services, purely because i own 2 G7 mice and i have never had a problem with them yet other then those utterly crappy v4.40 drivers that they put out quite a while ago other then that i have NO problem at all, maybe i'm just lucky or the fact of the matter is that it has always been about software.  Now i'm not saying that there hasn't been soem defects there always is but this is ridiculous ........ like really try some completely fresh install of the drivers and don't forget malware can effect any and all forms of software along with virus ......... so do some basic maintance before pointing the finger at Logitech first.

Most of the people have been trying everything short of rebuilding the mouse. There still is a problem. Mine ran for a good amount of time maybe 7-8 months and then started this problem.

WOW i'm still amazed at how many people are having problems with this mouse ......... and i feel for you guys but i still think it is a software problem at the heart of the matter and if you haven't tried it upgrade to the v4.6 drivers and do a clean install. Serious the only problem i have ever had with the G7 (other then the **bleep**ty v4.40 drivers) is my rabbit ate the recharger cord and i had to buy another G7 altogether but the G7 has been stellar for and by the looks of it i'm the only on this thread who can say that really LOL.

But my only advice right now is keep trying and maybe you will think of something ........ hopefully and of course keep posting your ideas

Its not a software problem as even on a fresh format system it also shows the same problem, and how can a software even force a G7 to drop its connection and reset the speed mode to medium and drop it again at random intervals ?

exellent point, I was hopefull that is was a communication error between the mouse itself and the software.

As i posted  before, i also had the same issue, placing it on a different computer didnt help... i also tried a fresh format OS on a separate harddisk.. turns out the hardware is actually damaged but i have no idea if its the mouse or the reciever.

yeah how can this be a software issue when i removed the software completely. and even when i put it onto another pc that never had the software on it. weird how this goes from them saying it is a software issue to what most of us are saying it is a hardware issue. i am trying to get a rma on both of the G mouse i have right now.

Incase you guys didnt know the G7 is already a "phased out" model.. so its quite obvious logitech is aware of the problem and doing nothing to remedy it.. maybe they are planning to release another mouse based on the G9 engine that is wireless w/c hopefully has no issues similar to the G7
