Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

Hi, I just bought 2 days ago a Logitech Mouse Air, and I have the same problem. I have windows Vista Premium and at first, with the set point installed, the mouse worked, but then without any reason, the Volume gesture stopped working, only the Mute/Unmute works with that button.
If I uninstall the Set Point software, the volume gesture work, everything works, only the play / pause button and the forward/backward gesture don't work.

Please see what you can do about this since in both situations I loose useful facilities of the mouse which are part of the reason for which I bought it.

Looking forward to your reply and solution.

Thank you

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

[ Edited ]
Hi all, think I may have fixed it.

Background: Installed Vista Premium 64 bit the other week and bought the MX Air after my DiNovo mouse died (keyboard and keypad had perished some months before due to some unidentified hardware fault). Little did I know the DiNovo MX900 perished because I had downloaded all the latest updates to my freshly installed Vista (including that infamous one that destroys all USB perhiperals!). Anyway I ended up buying the MX Air and had read about this problem previously so was prepared. And yes the volume control did not adjust the acutal sound volume while Setpoint was running.

The Fix: After reinstalling Vista Prem 64bit due to the USB problem from the irreversible Windows update I noticed that I had an additionaly sound device, my soundblaster and an additional windows HD audio device, in my device list. I rememberd this being listed before. Note I had disabled my onboard sound in the Bios so it couldnt have been that. It was possibly something to do with my ATI 2600XT card? Anyway I disabled it leaving just my Creative audio device and now my MX Air Volume actually controls the sound output with Setpoint in the background providing me with the screen volume control.

Note: I currently have the Vista driver signing disabled and had this disabled for all of my installs. Also as of yet I have not installed any windows updates but I think a previous poster has already seen the problem on a fresh install of Vista anyway.

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

OS: Vista Ultimate x64 SP1
Sound: Onboard SoundMax 7.1 + Creative X-Fi SoundBlaster (both audio cards are active and used)
SetPoint: version 4.60 for Vista x64
Mice: MX Air + MX Revolution

I investigated the problem and found out that SetPont does not correctly detect default sound output device.
If you go Start -> Control panel -> Sound -> Playback tab, you will probably see several output devices, mostly unused, except the one, which is marked as default. For unknown reasons SetPoint volume gesture changes not the default output device volume.

Temporary solution:
Disable all the output devices, except the default one and MX Air volume gesture will get back to life.

Acceptable solution:
Logitech *MUST* fix this issue in SetPoint ASAP. MX Air is the most expensive mouse on the market and such fault in supplied software is absolutely unacceptable!

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

I suggest all of you, facing this problem, to send a support request directly to Logitech, this might speed up resolving this issue.

Thanks that worked for me.

After calling tech support and spending an hour and twenty minutes troubleshooting things I already tried, they just told me to return it and get a new one....  amazing...

That brought me here...

So the only real reason I am posting is so that Logitech has yet another vote telling them to get it working with the current/default audio playback device....  Because had I not found this, I would have had to waste even more time and effort exchanging my mouse like they suggested in tech support...

I agree that a $150 mouse needs to just work... without forum hunting and tech support...

just my 2cents.... x 7500 = $150!!!

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

Hi,

Could everyone having this issue repost with the following information, so it is easier for Logitech to narrow down the issue.

- OS
- Used Media Player
- Sound card(s)
- Speaker type

This hopefully should help get all the needed information to Logitech to help them resolve it.

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

I'm having the same problem.

Vista SP1.
Setpoint 4.0L (says 4.60.122 in Setpoint though)

Closed Setpoint in Task Manager and volume adjust works, with Setpoint running volume adjust does not work.

With all other sound devices disabled volume adjust works. With other sound devices enabled volume adjust does not work. I cannot disable all other sound devices because I use two sound devices. This is a real pain. I expect this mouse to perform all of its stated functions.

Re: Volume Gesture does not work after installing SetPoint

Has there been a resolution?  I just bought this mouse yesterday and having the same issue.

I have a MacBook Pro.

With BootCamp I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit

4GB or Ram

Realtek High Definition Audio

Everything works just as this forum says.  The volume works only if SetPoint is not running.  If it were not for the scroll up and down buttons then I would say forget SetPoint.

I have the latest and greatest of SetPoint

Please advise.

Could it be a confliction of my keyboard?

I have a Microsoft Digital Media Pro that also adjusts the Master Volume.
