G9 not working after boot - lights flash red

About 75% of the time when I boot my machine, the mouse will not work properly. The three LED bars flash red instead of displaying the current profile. I have to unplug and replug the mouse a few times to get it to work.

I'm not sure if this is a detection issue or if it isn't loading the mouse profile properly or what. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the SetPoint software several times, but it happens both with and without the software installed.

I'm running Windows XP SP2, a brand new install in fact, as I just got a new PC. I was using this mouse on my old PC as well and had the same problem, which makes me think it is a physical issue with the mouse itself and not a software issue.

are you plugged in directly to the motherboard? using an alternate hub can create detection issues.

Hi wasylm :smileyhappy:

Just would like to reconfirm, the same problem occurs in the old and new PC?

Re: G9 not working after boot - lights flash red

Yes, I was hoping the problem would go away when I got the new PC but it hasn't.

The old PC used an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard, and the new one is an Asus P5K-E. They also both run on Windows XP. Those are the only similarities, if that's relevant.

The symptoms are identical on both machines, the LEDs blink red and the mouse doesn't work after booting into Windows, I have to pull it out and plug it back in, sometimes multiple times, before it will work properly.

Have you also tried updating the USB drivers and graphic card on your system?

Re: G9 not working after boot - lights flash red

I have the latest Intel chipset drivers. My graphics driver should be up to date as well. I'll double check them both when I get home, but as far as I know, they are both the most recent versions.

Everything is up to date as far as I can tell... I have never had a problem like this until I got this mouse, I upgraded from an MX510 which had no problems at all.

Re: G9 not working after boot - lights flash red

Just wanted to note that I also have this problem with about the same frequency... this part isn't so bad... but I STILL can't get Setpoint to recognize my mouse. For a while I was unable to have setpoint installed entirely... it would cause my mouse to stop functioning all together... but I tweaked it to at least be able to install... and now I seem to have LESS problems with my mouse on startup... but I still can't see it in setpoint. Any ideas on how setpoint can recognize my mouse?

Re: G9 not working after boot - lights flash red

I would like to report the same problem fully updated drivers. Sometimes my mouse work after a reboot but most of the time I just get the one light blinking red. When this happens the only thing working on the mouse is the buttons, so Im able to scroll and click the buttons but not move the pointer.
