Must be nice to have your assignments work AT ALL. I can change my side buttons to anything I want, they will still be Mousewheel UP and Mousewheel DOWN. Nothing I do seems to change this, basicly making this mouse a very expensive paperweight.

My company is a reseller of these products (and other alternatives) and I am going to stop recommending Logitech to clients unless this is fixed ASAP.

The game I am playing is CSource and both side buttons are set to GENERIC BUTTON. I have tried setting a keystroke as well and it STILL is assigned to MouseWheelUP and MouseWheelDOWN.

I am running Windows XP pro X64, 2GB ram, DuoCore 2.66 and four 18.2 10K Ultra160 drives in a RAID0 on an Adaptec 2100s card and a nVidia 8800GT.

This is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FIX.

WoW (and many other MMORPGS) will recogize this workaround exactly as it's input (WoW sees Alt+~). Soooo using various addons will gimp this solution.

I sure am disapointed in Logitechs support regarding this issue. 3 months and still no fix? You have to be kidding me.

Such a very simple oversight and very easy fix.

This is still not working? This is basic functionality. This, the absence of as adverised extra grips available for purchase, the rubber coating coming off the included grips within weeks, these things all scream RMA to me. I have had the unit to long to return it to the store. I didnt pay 100.00 for a mouse to have one less functional than a 12.00 mouse. I really think Logitech should fix the bugs, live up to the advertised additional grips, make a replacement rubber grip that wont detiroate in weeks available for order for shipping/handling only, or they should start issuing RMA/Refunds to anyone returning the unit for non funtional drivers <this issue>, false advertisment about the extra grips, or the included grips loosing coating after much less than normal use.

Same problem. I HAVE to be able to bind shift and control to the thumb buttons !

Is this going to be fixed or should I return the (otherwise fine) G9 immediatly ? 

Come on Logitech, you got us used to better than that.

My guess is the G9 was not the 'succes' Logitech hoped it was and now they can't be bothered to invest again in firmware updates. Rule number one in business: if a product doesn't sell, don't spend (and lose even more) money fixing a dead product.

I have the same problem, can't bind alt, shift or ctrl to my mousbuttons, it's annoying the hell out of me because i really like the g9, but find this to be the most important function for me on a mouse.

I have the same problem since I bought the mouse a few months ago. No software updates where made since the first version for this mouse.
