Mice stop working when installing Setpoint

I have just reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my machine and proceeded to update and reinstall all my drivers. However, when I got to Setpoint, installing it caused my mice to stop working. I was able to regain mouse functionality after using keyboard shortcuts to uninstall it. I have tried both my MX Revolution and MX610 mice and neither would work while setpoint was installed.

I don't see what could cause this, as this is pretty much a fresh OS install and there isn't much other software that could be interfering with it.

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Which version of SetPoint did you try to install?

Re: Mice stop working when installing Setpoint

I have tried both versions 4.60 and 4.40. I also have Windows Xp Pro in french if that info can help. Tried installing setpoint both in english and french, but all versions and languages cause my mice to stop working.

Re: Mice stop working when installing Setpoint

Sorry for double posting, but I'd really like to get this fixed. Otherwise there isn't much point in using Logitech mice if you can't use the extra buttons and functionality, and I'll just buy a cheaper brand mouse that actually works properly.

Also, disabling anti-virus didn't help either. The mouse stops working at 24% of the progress bar of the setpoint installation and the installation suddenly skips to the finish screen about half way through. I also tried deleting the default windows mouse drivers before installing in case there was conflict, but that didn't help either.

I'm running out of ideas here. Can anyone help?

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Please try performing a clean install of SetPoint 4.0 instead.

Re: Mice stop working when installing Setpoint

This did not help. Not only did the mouse stop working as usual, but this time uninstalling setpoint did not make it work again. I had to go to the hardware manager and manually tell windows to go back to the old mouse drivers.

I have a feeling you're just posting canned replies with generic solutions regardless of what the problem is. I hope I'm wrong.
