No tabs with setpoint 4.60, MX Revolution, Win Xp sp2

Hello,
I'm trying for ages to make Setpoint working... I juste installed the last Setpoint version (4.60.122) and you know what ? No tabs #!2ahbv** !!!

But i think i understood the problem... : my mouse isn't recognised as a logitech mouse, see what are the properties of my MX Revolution.

Not a logitech mouse right ? So, i want to opload the drivers of my mouse, to have the corrects logitech drivers for my MX Revolution... I choose "detect automatically", and then a driver is found, but a little warning... : http://upimago.com/out.php/i97560_mousevalidated.png

I click on "continue", the install begins, i see the load bar going to the end, and then i got this error : http://upimago.com/out.php/i97558_mouseerror.png

Sh!t !

So, my question: how to fix the problem ?
Thx to all !

I also had no tabs in SetPoint. I also couldn't uninstall SetPoint and so figured out that SetPoint hadn't installed properly. I reinstalled it and it worked fine. Have you tried this?

Re: No tabs with setpoint 4.60, MX Revolution, Win Xp sp2

Hi,

This can be done via the following steps:

1.) Put machine in CLEAN BOOT via instructions in the link provided below:

Answer Title: Tutorial: Booting Clean in Windows 98, ME, XP and Vista
Answer Link: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6674&p_created=1178609978

2.) Delete all Logitech folders from Program files and common files (Logitech/Logishrd)
3.) Empty %temp% from run line ... as many files as possible.
4.) Rename the WDF01000.sys file in System32/Drivers folder to OLDWDF01000.sys
5.) The rest has to be done in regedit. Please backup registry and continue at your own risk.
6.) Run Regedit in run line.
7.) Delete the following Logitech folders from the registry in the following locations
HKey_Currentuser/software/Logitech
HKey_Local Machine/Software/Logitech
Hkey_Users/s-1-5-18/software/Logitech
8.) Select My computer in the top of the left regedit window so it turns grey.
9.) Select edit then find, type in Logitech and hit enter. At this point the reg find tool will find the first string.
10.) Hit delete, then enter, then F3 and continue to do this until it is done finding entries for Logitech. Repeat step 9 using Setpoint as keyword in find. Delete, enter, then f3 untill it finishes searching the registry for entries.

11.) Install and run Microsoft installer cleanup utility from:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml
Remove the entry: KhalInstallWrapper or Khal_Wrapper from the list

---- REBOOT ---
12.) Install receiver for mouse. Let windows install it automatically on HID drivers.
13.) Install SetPoint
ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/mouse/setpoint440.exe

IF Blue Tooth is an issue Use 4.24bt, If not needed avoid Blue tooth and use 4.40
15.) Do not install the Yahoo toolbar, desktop messenger or any extras in SetPoint.
16.) Check for your tabs, take out of clean boot and check tabs again.

Thank you for your support and have a nice day:smileyhappy:

The far out solutions you posted several places on the board is as useless as setpoint 4.60 itself HalJordan. I have treid every solution you posted and they are all worthless for me.
I'll notice people have reported problems with the 4.60 drivers all this year and they are still not changed to the better? Is it even possible for a company to care so litte for thir paying customers?

Re: No tabs with setpoint 4.60, MX Revolution, Win Xp sp2

Hi all, I'm new to this and looking for help. I recently purchased a Logitech MX Revolution, got it home plugged it in, downloaded the latest setpoint software (4.60 122.0 - 1st July 2008) from the Logitech site and can't get the software to open, once loaded it come up with an error message 'Setpoint has encountered a problem, and cannot continue. Please reinstall SetPoint to correct this'. Well I've done this countless times and still no good. I'm not a wizard at computers and have spent the night reading the majority of forums online, following instructions such as remove all hid devices, reboot, re-install, empty recycle bin blah, blah, blah.

Unfortuneately - still no luck.  I have limited standard functionality with the scroll wheel, thumb buttons Etc, but can not access the thumb scroll nor the side ways scroll.  Setpoint appears on the tabs in Mouse Properties, but when I attempt to access it - I get the same message....

Other than not being able to use all of the functionality, I'm generally pleased with the mouse - I'd be extatic if it worked properly.

Appreciate any help.

[ Edited ]
This has got to be a freakin joke?
Are you guys serious?

Let me get this straight.. I still have yet to follow all 6,076 steps to get my mouse to work. but just to make sure I read correctly..

Attempt to Uninstall the version 4.60 that you website states RIGHT NOW I should be using for my mouse.
But your own uninstaller won't rip all the stuff out you put in my machine.
So then I have to do it myself in the registry by pressing F3 and Delete 300 times.
Go hunt down the directories and files that your uninstaller would not delete on it's own
Toast all Human Interface Devices
Then go rename some system file in system32\drivers
Go read some MS KB article about Clean Booting.
Download the old version of your software 4.40 that can't be found on your site normally, and can only find the link here in the "help" forums
Do a "clean boot" after reading the MS article on how to do so
Unplug mouse / plug it back in and let the computer find a new Human Interface Device
Attempt to install your OLDER software I downloaded earlier.
Turn off the clean boot
Reboot the machine in normal mode

And then pray to the Logitech gods that their awesome solution actually works to install a simple MOUSE!!!!

I would love to see a test group of average users attempt to install your mouse via this method.

I'm submitting this to my local News "Call for Help" channel because this is down right laughable!
They will get some 60 year old person stating how they just wanted their new mouse to work, and explain that whole proccess above.

I hope you leave this up long enough for the digg effect to crash the logitech site.
Here comes a **bleep** storm, enjoy....

This has to win some award for the stupidest solution to a simple problem.
I could understand if it was beta software but this is public release? And it's been a problem for MONTHS!
