Hi, I am having trouble with the latest Setpoint software.
Quick history: I upgraded my processor + RAM, flashed the BIOS and did a full format of the C drive + Reinstalled windows XP professional.
I've installed Office 2003, firewall (Zone Alarm Pro)+ antivirus (AVG, first time using this program..)
After this, I have installed Setpoint 4.6.
I am using a MX518 Gaming mouse (via USB) and a logitech mutlimedia keyboard via PS2 (The purple connection thing)
After installing the software, my mouse works fine. (Keyboard not immediately recognized, but after reboot, no problems)
However, now the problems start.
Every time I start up my PC, I have to unplug my mouse because it is non-responsive. (tracking laser is getting power, but buttons/movement has 0 effect) Afterwards, I can plug it back in and it will say "new hardware found", "your hardware is now ready for use".
I have to do this every single time I reboot/start up my computer.
I have uninstalled the software (setpoint 4.6) and started up the computer. Mouse is recognized, no problems at all.
I've switched USB ports to no avail.
I've used setpoint software for as long as I can remember on this computer and this is the first time I have had this problem.
I will try to install an older version of the software tonight, but does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
How can I fix it?

Hi
,
This could be caused by conflict between SetPoint and another program. Do you have any other mouse'related applications installed on your system?

Hi,
No, this is not related to any other application software. I have formatted the hard drive and only installed Windows XP Pro.
(No setpoint)
The only "improvement" I have seen is this:
I seem to be having this problem now on every 2nd boot. (1st boot, mouse is recognised, and works fine, 2nd boot, no mouse recognised.)
3rd boot is same as boot #1, 4 same #2 etc.
I think that the problem is located in the BIOS drivers and setpoint might just push the problem over the edge. (So that instead of a 50% failure rate, it's a 100% failure rate)
Other USB devices seem to work all the time (tested with external USB hard drive), I will be checking again with other USB mice tonight to see if it's a "mouse related" or "USB related" problem.
If it turns out to be a mouse problem, can I use a USB to PS/2 adapter and use my mouse with no loss in functionality?

Hi
,
Our mice are not compatible with off the shelf USB-PS2 adapters (exception of those that come with their own adapters). Please also try using the mouse without SetPoint installed to check if this is SetPoint-related.
