This is weird. This morning I woke my PC from sleep mode and in the tray (bottom right corner) was a small icon saying my mouse batteries were critical even though mouse had been in charger all night.
The setpoint icon still said that batteries were good.
I was still getting the critical message when returning mouse to charger.

I closed Setpoint and rebooted PC and restarted setpoint. Now I no longer get the critical battery message when I put the mouse in the charge cradle nor have I the tray message saying batteries are critical.
Both Setpoint icon in Tray and Setpoint when opened say batteries are good.

Thanks for you assistance and I now understand why Logitech has such a great reputation for customer support.

I think the problem has resolved itself but have no idea how.

Now the mouse has died... It won't recharge and instead of the green bars moving on the battery indicator there is one red one and everything is showing batteries critical on the mouse. I tried it on both my XP and Vista machines with the same result. Seems the problem I was having was a precursor to the battery dying.

I have had to uninstall Setpoint and revert to MS Explorer 4.0

18 months isn't very long for the batteries to last! Can still use the keyboard though.

Thanks for you past help, I thought this might be worth relating in case someone else has the same problem.

I am having this same problem today.  It seems to have originated when I go my new Monitor a Viewsonic VX2240w?  It could be one several things that I have done today:

1. Installed new VeiwSonic VX2240w screen.

2. Updated my ATI Catalyst driver to version 2.12

3. Got Driver update for Logitech QuickCam from Windows Update

4. Got Creative WDM update from Windows Update

This mouse has been working fine on this XP Home Ed. System for just about 2 years now.

I am going to try to mess with it some more and let you know if I figure anything out....

FYI I am using SetPoint 4.24.99

im suffering from the same issue.
I just got my mx1000 and i charged it for about an hour. Right now it shows all 3 leds but when i put it on the dock i get the critical msg.I've tried uninstalling \ reinstalling \ changing ports etc'. The weird thing is that now when i dock it the leds are going up once and stays full (without continuing the charging.. maybe the battery is pretty full?

and another question, after a full charge, the bars went from 3 to 2 after 6-9 hours, is that normal?
Help would be appreciated.

I also have the same problem, on a Freshly built PC.

Some slight differences with mine.. or I should say clarrifications.

1) I happen to have 2 MX1000 Units, both cradles and Mice.. BOTH are doing the same thing on this newly built PC. They did't do that prior to my rebuild.

2) This rebuild has the newest SetPoint 4.60.112 , my previous build did not have 4.6, though I don't recall exactly what version it was. (I have autoupdate set to off and I know it wasn't current).

3) I also have a Logictech G7 Cordless mouse as well.. and that one , while recognized by Setpoint properly, does NOT give me any sort of charging problem. (Of course it's not cradle based.. but it properly told me when my batteries were run down.

Finally.. I suspect it's actually the Setpoint software that is the problem.. because not only Does it says my mouse Batteries are Critical when I place my MX1000 in the cradle.. but they are actually FULL. (They last for HOURS before draining according to the on-mouse LEDs.). In addition if I leave the mouse in the cradle long enough it says "Your Mouse Batteries are Unknown", instead of the critical message which only appears for about 30 seconds upon insertion to the cradle. If i Remove the mouse from the cradle, it says the batteries are Full. (I never checked to see when they are low if SetPoint properly knows that when not in the cradle).

Anyway, I'm not worried about the message, as everything seems to be working fine.. but I'm 99% convinced some code changed in 4.6 of setpoint which incorrectly reads the charged status of the MX1000 mouse.
