LCC - No Logitech Device Found.

I got a Logitech MX 1100 mouse for christmas, but the Logitech Control Center can't find it. I've tried to reinstall it, but that didn't help. I have another Logitech mouse too, a Logitech G3, and it can't find that one either. How do I fix this problem?

Re: LCC - No Logitech Device Found.

Hi , I think I'm in the same boat.

A couple of months ago I purchased the combo MX600 Laser Cordless Mouse and S530 Keyboard for my MacBook Pro.

Several days ago one of my children got a hold of the MX600 mouse and well... I ordered and recieved my new MX620 Laser Cordless Mouse...

How do I use the new MX620 mouse with the existing S530 Keyboard using only one mini receiver?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Re: LCC - No Logitech Device Found.

I just got off the phone with logitech support and they were able to get LCC to recognize my MX1100 by removing a few residual kernel extensions.  I used to have a Microsoft Mouse and the Mouse software with it, but even after I had uninstalled the Microsoft Mouse program from the system preferences, there were residual kernel extensions left over.  You should see if your system has these kexts.  Go to the Finder and go to the hard drive where OSX is installed, then go to System -> Library -> Extensions.  Try to search for something with Microsoft mouse, Microsoft keyboard, intelli (for intellipoint).  If they are there, they might be interfering with the recognition of the LCC.  If you contact Logitech support, they have a pretty extensive list of the stuff they've found to be interfering, so you should give them a call if you don't have these kexts and still have issues.  Just trash the offending kexts, empty the trash and restart.

Re: LCC - No Logitech Device Found.

This solution works!  Thank you so much.  I had another mouse and had installed "steer mouse" to work the buttons.  I went to the library ---> extensions and removed the kernel extention for "steer mouse" and voila!  All is well again.

Re: LCC - No Logitech Device Found.

bskuared provided the solution for me.  I, too had installed SteerMouse to control another mouse.  After uninstalling it (by following their directions to the letter), it seems that SteerMouse.kext is left in /System/Library/Extensions.  As root, I did a "mv SteerMouse.kext /var/tmp" (in case I'd need it back), rebooted, and the Logitech Control Panel now sees the mouse perfectly.

So, in my case, let me set the record straight: the culprit is not Logitech, it's the shareware SteerMouse uninstall that's leaving some kernel artifacts (drivers maybe?) around.
