Hi , I think I'm in the same boat.
A couple of months ago I purchased the combo MX600 Laser Cordless Mouse and S530 Keyboard for my MacBook Pro.
Several days ago one of my children got a hold of the MX600 mouse and well... I ordered and recieved my new MX620 Laser Cordless Mouse...
How do I use the new MX620 mouse with the existing S530 Keyboard using only one mini receiver?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

bskuared provided the solution for me. I, too had installed SteerMouse to control another mouse. After uninstalling it (by following their directions to the letter), it seems that SteerMouse.kext is left in /System/Library/Extensions. As root, I did a "mv SteerMouse.kext /var/tmp" (in case I'd need it back), rebooted, and the Logitech Control Panel now sees the mouse perfectly.
So, in my case, let me set the record straight: the culprit is not Logitech, it's the shareware SteerMouse uninstall that's leaving some kernel artifacts (drivers maybe?) around.
