Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

Months ago, Logitech promised Mac support (driver) for G9.

If it didn't happen by now - I don't think it will happen at all.

Mislead and disappointed.

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

I just bought myself a G9 as an early Christmas present, and I went on the same search as brought everyone else to this thread.  Namely how to control it from my iMac.  I can report complete success.

I found a Mac app called ControllerMate, ($15 Shareware) which is the most powerful controller software I've seen.  It gives you infinite tweaking power over your mouse (or any other type of controller).  Here are some of the programming tools available to give an idea of the possibilities.  It's still in active development so this list should expand in the future.

The programming has a pretty steep learning curve, but then it's a very powerful program.  It uses a graphical programming interface similar to Automator or LabView or Leggo Mindstorms.  There's an active forum and the developer is extremely accessible, friendly and helpful in getting you started.  There are also user submitted snippets that you can copy and paste into your own mouse config and adapt to your own use.  Be sure to remove ALL other mouse drivers (Intellimouse, USB Overdrive etc) before starting because they block the actions of ControllerMate.

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

Nice, but I didn't see support for the G9 in the "Compatibility List" on their site.

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

I just ran my G9 through their CM Device Scanner app this morning.  This characterizes the actual buttons on the device and suppresses all the non-existent buttons that G9 mouse reports it has.  These scans are what is used to generate the config file that you download for each device, so you should be seeing the G9 listed on the Compatibility page within the next few days.

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

I'd too love to have LCC support the G9 mouse. The mouse works flawlessly except for not being able to configure the mouse buttons at all.

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

I will say dittos to having native drivers for Mac OS X for the G9 mouse. This thread has been a good read to give me idea for controlling my mice. I am using a G5, which is also not supported by Logitech on Macs. Without drivers I initially thought there was no way to control it. I was planning on returning the two G5s, but one day, when I still had both the G5 and Mighty Mouse plugged in, that Apple's settings in System Preferences for the Mighty Mouse worked in controlling the G5. I could only set the preferences if a Mighty Mouse was plugged in, but then my G5 was set for tracking, scrolling, extra buttons, etc. Interesting, but it works. I have not tried this on any mouse other than the G5. Working in Photoshop all day I need precision mousing. Years ago there were hi-resolution ADB mice for pre-press functions like masking, trapping, photo editing, vector drawing, etc., and now the only hi-res mice I can find are marketed to gamers. I don't need all the extra buttons, or removable weights, but the tracking is really nice.

Have any of you tried the GAME PANEL SOFTWARE from the G13 page?

Re: Logitech G9 mac compatible?

Just for the fun of it, I tried to install the Game Panel software, but as I expected (it's for configuring the LCD panel on gaming keyboards, not mice) it doesn't do anything good. It just sits in the dock saying "Please plug in your G-series device" and doesn't recognize the G9 at all. Even if it did, what good would it do? There's no LCD panel on the G9 to configure. :smileyhappy:

Do the DPI sensitivity control buttons work on the Mac with or without ControllerMate?
