MX 1100R: Why is there no support for MacOS X?

I am using a MX 1000 for serveral years and I really like this model, but my mouse gets older and is now due for a replacement. So I am looking for a similar mouse since fall until I read a test about the MX 1100. Everything sounded great and I thougt it could be the perfect replacement until I learned, that the MX 1100 uses batteries as power supply. IMHO a No-Go for Cordless mice, as I am sure, that batteries will be empty at a time in night, with no batteries in my house and all shops closed! I know this from IR Remote Controls for my TV and HiFi system. :smileywink:

So I started to consider a MX Revolution, but I read about many problems with this model and short test at a local retailer quickly showed that the MX 1100 suited my hands much better then the MX Revulution. With no real alternatives I began looking where I can get a MX 1100 for a good price and found the MX 1100R at some retailers and was excited: A rechargeable version of the MX 1100 – Great! Exactly what I was looking for and most german online shops claimed it would be compatible with MacOS X 10.3.9 or newer. Just a quick look on the Logitech page before ordering but then the big disappointment: No Mac support for the MX 1100R! Looking around in the forums here showed that this was no mistake, LCC really wouldn't recognize a MX 1100R!

And now I am questioning myself: Why? When I look at the specs both models are essentially the same except for the power supply and this shouldn't require great changes (if any at all) in the drivers, as the MX 1100 is supported on Macs! Isn't Logitech interested in selling a few mice more?

Re: MX 1100R: Why is there no support for MacOS X?

I'm wondering too why this mouse is not supported in Max OS X? As my predecessor said, the differences between MX 1100 and MX 1100R are very very small?

Full support in OS X would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Re: MX 1100R: Why is there no support for MacOS X?

Hello, i'll probably buy the mx 1100r for my iMac. LCC don't recognize the mouse, but, Mac OS X recongize this one (first & scnd click). Could we use a software like USB Overdrive ?

I have a MX518, and LCC don't recognize it. So I use USB Overdrive for the middle, 4th and 5th button... and it's work !

So my question : is the MX1100R a litle regnized by Mac OS or not at all ?
