Mice With Mac (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

Is there an option to assign the thumb buttons to the Generic Buttons function on an Apple computer? I have read posts dating from October of last year to one like 5 days old, and NONE of them have an answer.

If it is possible can someone please explain how I can set it up? If not, then is there any other way to bind the keys in a computer game? 

I'm about ready to throw my mouse at a wall, please help.

Issue resolved; I'm buying a Razer and returning this piece of garbage to Future Shop.
