To have Spaces/Exposé working again there shouldn't be the need to copy the application. Just assign the button(s) to "Advanced Click" in LCC, assign its number(s) in the bottom right (#3 in my case) and then configure Spaces/Exposes to use those buttons. Doing so, I believe, disable those buttons in the LCC configuration and free them to be used by OSX.
