G500s not working



I bought this gaming mouse G500s. I plugged it in the computer, but nothing happened. My computer does not detect it at all. After plugging it in, it just says that there were some problems with installing new hardware. What should i do?

I have:

Win XP SP3 32bit

Perhaps you could try the troubleshooting steps provided below to induce your Windows PC to recognize your G500s mouse:


  1. Close all active Windows.
  2. Go to the Device Manager (Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager).
  3. Click the "plus" sign beside the categories for Human Interface Devices, Mice and other pointing device, Other Devices (if available), and Universal Serial Bus Controllers to look for your mouse. It might be listed as "USB composite device" or an "Unknown device". There's a big chance that it's flagged with a yellow exclamation mark.
  4. Right-click on the mouse entry and choose "Update Driver...".
  5. Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click on "Next".
  6. Proceed with the instructions that will follow to finish the process. You will probably notice that the pop-up notification boxes appearing on the lower right-hand corner changes.
  7. Finish the installation and check if there are any changes in the Device Manager entry.
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 several times, until the proper mouse entry appear in the Device Manager.

This persistent action is sometimes necessary to force Windows XP in identifying new USB peripherals. If successful, your mouse should properly show in the Device Manager as illustrated below:
