M317 Mouse Won't Connect

Hi, I Recently purchased this mouse and i plugged in the nano reciever into a usb port. Once i plugged it in and turned on the mouse, the light on the mouse lights up for about 10seconds and the light turns off. I don't believe it is the battery life because the mouse had already come with a battery inside it and to test i used several different batteries. I also tried Logitech's Unifying Software, However when i plugged in the nano reciever like the program said to, it doesn't detect the reciever. Any Suggestions would be great thanks.

Hi Sphax,

 

Your receiver might be defective, to verify you can try connecting it to a different USB port and if possible to a different computer. If your receiver is still not being detected please contact phone support to verify the warranty information.

I got hold of one of these M317 mice a week ago and I've been using it on one of the computers around here, and like one or two other people I found one day that it simply stopped working.

 

Having done a couple google searches it looked to me like there weren't any good answers out there about this kind of an issue.

 

So anyway I screwed around a bit with the thing, and I found that apparently what's going on is, the little plug in thing that goes into the usb port isn't making good contact with the port.  I found that if I applied some side pressure to the thing in its socket, windows would suddenly notice it, install it, and it would work.  Until  I let go of it.

 

I've noticed a similar sort of issue with some micro usb plug in devices.  The little plugs seem to be prone to being warped or something, in some subtle way, which renders them more or less incapable of maintaining a working contact between the devices. 

 

I think this probably comes down to a manufacturing defect, or damage from shipping or storage, or from use.  I've seen this issue once or twice in brand new units, in refurbs, and I've seen them developed after a prolonged period of use.

 

I'm pretty sure the one I have has no warranty or anything on it, but if there's any logitech monitors who read this stuff, I'd like to hear if there's any way I can get hold of a replacement for just the plug in part of this thing, instead of me having to go buy whole new mouse or something.

 

Anyway, just wanted to put this up here in case it clears up a mystery for anybody.

As I understand, the receiver for your wireless Mouse M317 is no fitting properly in the USB port, so you want to know how to get a replacement. I'll be happy to assist you with this issue.

 

You can get a Unifying receiver for the M317 on the Parts Store, if your M317 has the Unifying logo printed at the bottom like this. In case your mouse doesn't have the Unifying logo, please provide me with the Part Number P/N, so I can search for t he receiver that works with your mouse. The Part Number is printed on a label inside the battery compartment.
