M705 Buttons programmable?

I am replacing my old LX8 which has started working intermittently.  What buttons are available and that can be programmed to various functions.  I want the left and right scroll wheel to move back and forward, the wheel button to do CTRL-A and one of the thumb buttons to DEL.

Re: M705 Buttons programmable?

Hello Don101,

I see that you are replacing your LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse with a M705 Marathon Mouse and that you want to know if you would be able to program the buttons in the way that you described.

I'll be happy to answer to your question. The buttons on the M705 can be programmed with the same settings that you described using SetPoint. If you whish you can take a look at the FAQ below to get more information on how to make those settings.

Customizing my M705 with Logitech software (SetPoint).

I hope that you find this information useful Don101, and that you enjoy your M705.

Re: M705 Buttons programmable?

Thank you for the reply.  I purchased the M705 and really love it except for the scrolling and scroll wheel sensitivity problems I mentioned in another thread.   Its going back to Walmart today.

Re: M705 Buttons programmable?

Hi Don101,

You are welcome. As I understand, you are not comfortable with the scrolling behavior of the M705 Marathon Mouse. There is a chance that the scrolling sensitivity may be affected by the Smooth Scrolling for Logitech Mice application that comes built-in with SetPoint 6.50 and 6.51.

Perhaps you could try to use your M705 with SetPoint 6.32, this version comes without the Smooth Scrolling application, and see if that way it's more comfortable to scroll with your M705. To do so, you could try this:

  1. Uninstall SetPoint.
  2. Download and install SetPoint 6.32 for 32-bit OS or for 64-bit Os.
  3. Check to see if it's more comfortable to scroll.

I hope that you find this information useful Don101. Please let me know if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help you.

Re: M705 Buttons programmable?

I returned the device to walmart.  When does Logitech anticipate having this problem fixed?

Hello Don101,

I see that you returned the Marathon Mouse M705 to the store where you bought it, due to the scrolling issues. The experience that you have had is definitely not the one that we wish our customers to have.

I'll be happy to forward this information to the proper team, so they can take a look into it. I'm afraid I cannot provide you with a specific date, but as soon as there is a software update or a hardware modification it would be announced on our website.

Thank you very much for your feedback Don101, that is what helps us to improve our devices and software.

Hello dtj,

I see that you are having some issues with your M705 Marathon Mouse and SetPoint 6.52. To better assist you, could you please be a little bit more specific?

It would help a lot to know, the functions that you are trying to assign and what it's not working properly.

I'm looking forward to your reply dtj, I hope that we can figure this out soon.
