MX Revolution Connection Problem Windows XP

I ordered an extra receiver to use when I am on the road and keep one in my dock at the office. One mouse with two receivers.
The new receiver connected fine. I used the Connection Utility to connect the MX and the first try it connected and started working perfectly.
About 3 hours later it just stopped working and the connection will not reestablish. The MX was fully charged before the 3 hours so it only has 3 hours use on the charge and shows three bars on the charge lights. My laptop recognizes the receiver when I connect it but the Connection Utility is never successful again.
I switched USB ports, I downloaded and tried another version of the connection utility, I rebooted with and without the receiver installed. Nothing changes.
Any way to figure out where the problem could be?

Please try using the receiver with a different computer (if possible) to verify if it is a hardware problem. If the issue persists, please e-mail Customer Support to process a warranty replacement.
