Mice and Pointing Devices

Hi,

I have windows XP SP3 and Logitech wave keyboard and cordless MX revolution
mice.

I have Set Point 4.70.213 installed.

I cannot go into standby mode when the mice receiver is connected to the computer,
I get the message:"The device driver for the 'Logitech Driver Interface'
devices is preventing the machine from entering standby....".

I unchecked in the Device manager the option "Allow this device to
bring the computer out of standby" for this mice.

When I remove the receiver I have no problem to enter the standby mode.

Please help me and the environment to enter my computer into standby mode.

I nearly have the same problem. The facts as follow:

- Windows 7 RC Release Canditate build

- SetPoint 4.72 64 bit edition

When I run "powercfg -ENERGY" the report tells me exactly the problem, being the keyboard (Wireless DiNovo) and the mouse (MX Revolution). When I disconnect them the PC remains in standby-mode without any problem. On the either side with either the keyboard or the mouse connected (or both) the PC reboots after some seconds to minutes from standby mode without user interaction.

I and the environment would be thankful for any helpful advice, too.

In addition to the settings already tried, make sure the USB properties/Advanced settings are set to disable the "Wake from Sleep" for both the mouse and the Keyboard. Check the mouse and keyboard in Device Manager, and make sure those are set to disable wake up too. Finally, set the CMOS BIOS settings to disable the "Wake Up Computer" from  Mouse and Keyboard are selected as "Disabled".

Thanks deepblue1 - seems to work. Although i'd wish Logitech would work out some better drivers. Lot's of friends of mine seem to agree that Logitech more often than not offers great hardware but VERY poor software.

Under Windows Vista I hadn't those problems (i.e. sleep/hibernate worked without having mouse/keyboard 'deactivated'), so it must be a software-based problem.

It seemed to help but actually it didn't. The computer went on again a few minutes ago, while being in standby.

This is sad.

Does the resume from sleep mode happen at a fixed time delay from entering sleep mode, or does the resume delay after entering sleep mode vary?

I had this problem a long time ago, but I eventually found a setting in the advanced device properties or the USB channel advanced settings where the device is connected, still had the ''Allow this device to Wake up the computer from sleep" set to "Enabled", only one of several related settings already disabled. It might be a software glitch, but I suspect that the OS is somehow detecting activity from the mouse or the keyboard that initiates the resume from sleep mode action. The fact that if the device is disconnected, and the resume doesn't occur, is evidence that is causing the resume to occur.

I haven't measured how long it takes, but I think I'm quite sure that if it happens, it happens after a fixed lapse of time.

Will have to check if I see any advanced settings like those you're talking about. But I don't remember seeing anything like that. Thanks anyway.

If it can help some of you...

I had the exact same problem, my htpc was awaken from any little movement of my logitech mouse.

The solution is to go to the device manager section of the windows control panel and to uncheck the wake part from ALL mouse entries that have a "power management" config, not just the logitech mouse entry: right-click/Properties/Power management/Allow this device to wake the computer => uncheck.

I started by unckeking this setting only for the logitech mouse entry but it didn't change anything. By unchecking the setting for all "HID-compliant mouse" entries, it finally worked!
