MX Revolution - Scroll Mode Not Changing

Afternoon all,

I've got an MX Revolution (2 actually) which I'm having problems with.

The first one, a Mk1, works fine on both PCs, and on both Win7 64 and Vista 32.

The second one, a Mk2, seems to be permanently stuck in free scroll mode on both machines and OSes. I've tried Setpoint with and without uberoptions, I've tried assigning Do Nothing, without effect. If I disconnect the mouse from the PC, I get that quiet "click/clunk" sound when you press the scroll wheel like you would expect when the wheel toggles modes, but it remains in free scroll.

Is this a hardware fault, or is there some setting that needs updating from the Setpoint software to sort this? I should mention that I've used 4.8 on both machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: MX Revolution - Scroll Mode Not Changing

Sounds like a hardware problem. When disconnected from the computer, the wheel click should toggle scroll modes. Since it doesn't, the hardware must be broken.

Re: MX Revolution - Scroll Mode Not Changing

Thanks for the reply. I've done some investigation and have managed to fix it - it appears to be down to normal hardware wear and tear, increased by having the wheel set to free scroll mode for a significant period of time. I've documented the fix I employed and put a step by step guide up online in the hope that it might benefit other people with similar problems.
