MX Revolution and VX Nano in CAD

I have both mice and the VX Nano on my Toshiba with Vista is hopeless for my CAD work.  I use the middle button to hold and pan.  The Nano goes 'click' and its virtually impossible to move about the CAD window smoothly.

I've played about in the settings but to no avail.  Can someone offer a suggestion please.

My MX Revolution on XP Pro and also same CAD program.   It does some strange things when zooming with middle wheel - screen jumps about and then settles.

Again I've played about with settings but to no avail.

I tried an el cheepo Microsoft corded mouse just to see what it does and that worked fine.  Well put it this way it didn't misbehave but I didn't like using it.

Re: MX Revolution and VX Nano in CAD

Hi:smileyhappy:,

For the MX Revolution, assigning the scroll wheel click to the 'middle button' function will make it behave properly. For the VX Nano, the scroll wheel click is a mechanical switch to change scroll modes and cannot be reconfigured; however, it is possible to asign any of the other onfigurable buttons to the middle button function.

Re: MX Revolution and VX Nano in CAD

thanks for this.

hadn't thought of assigning other buttons in Nano (duh!)

Yes that's fixed the Nano.

I do have the MX assigned as such.  I'm wondering if its a software issue as I have been looking at previous versions of same software on my PC and that version with same dwg open behaves differently to the latest version with same dwg.

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Have you tried assigning it to 'Generic Button' instead? That's normally used for games, but does work for applications with special functions for certain buttons (such as most CAD programs).

[ Edited ]

thanks CJ

I tried that setting but it didn't alter anything in that area.

I still think its a software issue in paper space within the CAD program.

Unfortunately the programmers most likely don't use these higher end mice so don't get to experience what works well or what doesn't work.

I'll keep an eye on the settings and thanks again for input. I'm also persevering with my programmers.

regards

Richard
