My MX 518 mouse has been turning off, then back on, then off, then on for the past few months. When the mouse is working, Set Point will have the settings options for the MX518. When it's not working, those options disappear. If I unplug it, and plug it back in, most times it will say "USB Device Not Recognized," and the mouse will not work. The rare occasions when it does work, it seems to be a matter of luck, and it may even last for a few hours, but will inevitably go out again for just as long. I didn't have this problem when I used it on my older computer which ran on Windows XP.
Both of my new computers run on Windows Vista, one is 32-bit, the laptop is 64-bit. I had just installed Set Point 4.70.213 on the laptop after I bought it on 1/14/09.
Any suggestions? I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem, and that it can be resolved.

Unfortunately this sounds exactly like a hardware problem. The infamous short in the cord. Get the mouse replaced if it still has warranty.
Good luck!

Hi
,
I agree, this does look like a hardware problem. If your mouse is within the 3 year warranty period, please e-mail Customer Support to make a warranty claim.
