Mac Lion + Mx1100 = scroll stuck in up position

I've actually had this problem for about a year and have just found ways of working around it, but now need it fixed.  When I plug in the mouse to my macbookpro (and even my macbook air) and install the logitech control center, and i customize the scroll to "vertical scroll" it literally scrolls vertically 24/7.  On word docs, excel, safari, chrome, itunes and so on.  It will be permanently stuck on scrolling up.  The only way to get around this is to assign the scroll to another function.  Side to side scrolling does nothing.  I checked the batts, "reset" the mouse by taking out the batts and holding the left/right button, and tried several versions of LCC (like I said i've had this issue for a while) but nothing ever works.  I hooked it up to several pc's and it works perfectly.  Just on mac's (previously snow leopard and now lion).  Any idea?

hmmmm maybe i'm the only one with this problem?  I cant see it being a hardware problem as it only does this on macs but works fine on pc

Re: Mac Lion + Mx1100 = scroll stuck in up position

well called customer care, and they said that because it works on pc but not mac, that its apples fault........how is it their fault?  the mouse is advertised as working for mac and pc, and it doesnt work on mac.  so its apples problem?

Jason, the customer care person, said that because the mouse works on a pc, that the mouse is NOT defective.  And he said it was apples fault.  Really?

Re: Mac Lion + Mx1100 = scroll stuck in up position

so I talked to a supervisor "Pat" who also said it was an apple issue, and its not their fault because the mouse is "compatible" with mac which means certain things may not work......  my definition of compatible is that everything works, not some things

and i just looked on amazon where i purchased this mouse, and it says nothing about "compatible", it just says it works with pc and mac (which it clearly does not)

Re: Mac Lion + Mx1100 = scroll stuck in up position

so i finally fixed it without the help of logitech customer support.  I took the mouse apart, and one of the tiny springs was seated incorrectly and what i think is a sensor had black spots on it and i cleaned it and now it works.  Apple's fault?  yea right.  I have spent over a $1000 on logitech products (most of that price is from high end harmony remotes) and will consider other competitors because of this experience.  Pat was rude and Jason was not helpful, both putting the blame on apple instead of treating a customer with respect.  I understand that just because I had a bad experience with 2 customer service agents that it doesnt represent the company as a whole, but as a consumer, this situation still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and in an industry as competitive as Logitech's, I have several choices.
