Since a few days I have problems using my middle mouse button on the MX Revolution. It just becomes less and less sensitive everytime I use it, and I use it a lot because I use it to open tabs in Firefox, use it as automatic scrolling in various applications and other functions. First when it started malfunctioning, I needed to press in the direction of the left arrow (button 7) to get the middle mouse button press. But now it's almost dead, I almost can't open a tab anymore or do whatever I do with the middle mouse button. Button 7 and 8 are still working, just the third mouse button not.

I checked in other operating systems (Linux), and on other computers. I also changed the setpoint settings, but this didnt work either. I'm running Windows XP 32-bit on my main computer. The MX revolution is usually less than 50 centimeters from the receiver.The product number is 810-000422 (MX Revolution 2007 version). The mouse was purchased on April 7, 2009

Anyone any suggestions? Please let me know if you require more information.

Based on your description, it looks like the button has gone bad As this kind of defect is covered by the warranty, your best option would be to contact Customer Support  about making a warranty claim.

I recently replaced my MX700 with an MX Revolution. My problem is that on my old mouse using the middle button as Double Click was very easy as the wheel did not turn as freely. With the Revolution the middle wheel wants to turn too easily when you press it down to use the double click. I have put the wheel in click mode and it still is having the same issue. When you want to select a bunch of items on a list one at a time by using the double click I can not get it to work without having to move the wheel a fraction go get it up against the gear so that when you press the wheel down it doesn't move a fraction and move off of your desired item to click. I can do it faster by manually double clicking the left mouse button. If this is something that can't be worked out I guess I'll have to go back to the MX700 as the other features of the mouse aren't enough to make me keep it.

Please reassignign the one-touch search button to the double click function. Its easier to press without accidentally moving/activating the wheel.

Hi, I bought my MX-Revolution to use as a gaming mouse due to the fact that it has so many programmable buttons.  Unfortunately, I've found that the only 2 buttons I've been able to use while playing World Of Warcraft are mouse button 4 and 5.  For some reason middle mouse will not work, even when bound in the key bindings settings in game.  Can some one please help me figure out how to get the rest of the buttons to bind AND work in game while disabling one touch search and document flip.  Thank you.

Update:  I found the post about the Middle Mouse button, or Mouse 3, and rectified that problem, but the problem of not being able to set the other mouse buttons to a generic setting still persists.  Furthermore, I set the one touch search and document flip to the  No Function setting and for some reason the still perform their functions whilst in game.

Why don't you install uberoptions? all your issues will be solved at once since you can then apply any setting to any key per application.l

I seem to be having an issue with my middle mouse button (the scroll wheel when clicked in) in that it no longer performs any function whatsoever when used in its default setting or any of the scroll settings. I tried uninstaling the old driversthat were installed when I first installed it and installed the new Version 6 Driver Software, and it doesn't seem to have had any effect. I'm fairly certain that the sensor for the button itself is still good, considering that before I switched the driver software, the middle button worked fine for toggling between scroll modes, but nothing else even when I had the smartshift turned On.

My main issue with this, aside from not being able to use the button in other applications is that I use a program called SolidWorks for the creation and editing of 3D solid parts and such and that not being able to use the middle button means that I can no longer rotate parts around or pan around views in an efficient manner. Everything seemed to work perfectly fine until just a couple days ago.

I often refer to the wheel click for the same reason: also in my 3d app of choice - Maya - the middle mouse button's very important for view actions. In your case I would: uninstall all mouse software, then check functionality with the default microsoft mouse driver being active, return the mouse if middle click still isn't working (or try middle click on a diffrent comp at work).
