I was having the same issue with my M570 and this was the first Logitech mouse this has happened to for me, and I've been using Logitech mouses for over a decade now. But my problem was more intermittent. It would double click maybe 40% of the time when I single click. Very annoying. It also happened when I plugged it into a different computer, so I knew it was a hardware issue.
So as one person suggested here, I thought about swapping the micro switch with an old mouse. But after I removed the mouse cover, I decided to see if I could recreate the problem to see if there were any glaring physical issues that maybe could be solved more easily.
I put the battery back in and turned the mouse on and started clicking the micro switch. Surprisingly, I found the switch worked just fine. No matter what I did and how I clicked it, the problem wouldn't reoccur. So I cleaned up the insides as best I could, reassembled the mouse, and it now works like new.
I can't say if this solution will work for everyone, and I can't even say for sure how it worked for me, but try it and see if it works for you before you take more drastic measures.

It's ironic you mention that because I just came back to say I "may" have discovered a solution... It's actually posted on this site here: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/G-series-Gaming-Mice
It basically says to do what you did lol... They are saying it might be a build up a charge on the capicitors. Devices that are wireless/have batteries can do this and to fix it you can remove the battery and click all the buttons to drain it.
I have done this and I haven't experienced a double click since, but it's only been a couple days.
I'll update if the problem comes back. I sincerly hope it doesn't cuz I really like this mouse!

Unfortunately that wasn't my problem... I exchanged it for another one.

Sigh.... sadly this problem is also affecting my corded MX400 laser mouse. Left-click button registers two clicks when I only click once, and another problem is when I'm trying to hold the button down (i.e. drag-and-drop files) the button doesn't register as being held down.
I thought I would be covered since this model has a 5-year warranty. Nope! Called the Logitech support line, the customer service representative claimed the warranty has expired, even though I bought it less than 5 years ago! He said I would need to fax a receipt to them to get warranty coverage... who the heck keeps a receipt for a simple mouse purchase from a few years back?!
Thanks for nothing.
Note: even the CSR said his own Logitech mice at home usually develops left-click problems after less than a year. He said I should buy a new Logitech mouse because "it'll be covered by warranty and you can get a replacement when the left-click problem appears". Yeah right... you won't replace my current mouse even though it's still under warranty - why would I buy another Logitech and hope the warranty will be there for me?!

I am also going through same problem and I am currently using M325. My mice automatically opted for duble click even when i clicked only single time. How to over come this problem as it is quite hectic, what should i do for better computer support while using this wireless mouse.

I recently have this issue, so disappointed to see how many are affected.
I can't drag without a lot of effort. windows resize to max when trying to move them.
Out of warranty, will look elsewhere for next mouse. This is a lot of $ for a limited term investment

Is anyone paying attention to what the guy said about the software fix? I downloaded it, executed it and within 1 minute of going to the site, the double click issue is GONE! It even tells you how many bogus double clicks it's prevented (30 so far). Thank you whoever you are!!!

This problem is due a build up of Electro Static Field (ESF) on the plastic. ESF is most troublesome in very low humidity environments. The internal circuitry design must not be robust enough to handle the gradual build-up of ESF that can occur through use. Can't comment any more on the specifics since I'm a Mechanical Engineer and not an Electrical Engineer.
Blowing air (from your mouth, not a can of air) into the crack under the left mouse button fixes this issue because human breath is very moist. You can also recreate the problem by rubbing a piece of cloth over the left mouse button repeatedly to generate ESF.

in windows 7 the mouse installs itself twice, in the infinite world of microsoft, there is the infinite impotence of logitech, combined so well that it equals time travel... one mouse in this universe, one in.. uhh... i dunno
go to your desktop, right click "my computer" and say "manage"
you must be admin to do this so your screen should dim and a popup will chime, you must click yes to allow
open now should be a window named computer management, on the left is 'device manager' click this
to the right now is a tree with all your junk in it, find the line that says "Mice and other pointing devices"
here you should find your mouse twice
i did and that is what my problem was... if you have other devices under the mouse tab, try to look for duplicate device names, thats how i found mine, its there twice, one mouse two drivers lol...
if you have two mice, just double click one of them (get it... lol) to open a "properties" window
near the top, go to the tab named "Driver" in that popup, find the button named "Disable" and click that
up pops one last warning popup, click yes and viola, you should see immediate changes as your mouse speed cuts in half and that neat two for one click feature vanishes..... enjoy your mouse, put down your solar goggles, don't use up any tinfoil, and for sure back away from the solder,
its a logitech thing, nobody understands... if you can read this, help me roll this thing back over
apple user.. dude, you are on your own, if those come with a control panel, see if its in there twice.. happy appling!! lulz
GIVE ME BACK MY MICROSWITCH!!1!
