I just had to write this because it is very frustrating... I have the anywhere mx for my netbook, and just bought the performance mx for my desktop.
There seems to be a couple of poor design choice with the performance mx. Firstly, it only uses a single battery, and from what I hear people are getting from a few days to one week or so on a charge. Why not have two batteries?? I have read the The mx 1100 would go for months on 2 AA batteries, and my other portable mice that have two batteries also go for months. Why just one??? Sure you can charge it easily enough by plugging in the usb cable, and you can still use it while charging, but if I wanted to have a wired mouse every few days, I wouldn't have bough a wireless mouse... If its a matter of weight or you can't adequately charge two AA batteries via usb cable, then Logitech could have still made it capable of using two batteries, and those who want to charge via usb, or like the lighter weight of one battery, then they could only used one battery. (Like many other mice that you can use either two or one AA battery).
I would buy the mx1100, but I like the nano style usb, and also do use my desktop mouse on glass, so I am stuck with the performance mx.
Another thing... The power switch. Why doesn't it have the nice power button slider like on the anywhere mx. I mean this is their top of the line mouse, why not include the easier to use slider (like on the anywhere), that also covers the laser when slid to the off position? Why leave this feature off???
Lastly the anywhere mouse comes with a little pouch, but not so for the performance mx. Sure you are not as likely to carry around the larger performance mx, but it doesn't have the slider to protect the laser, and jeez, the cables come with their own pouch. Besides, THIS IS an $80 to $100 mouse...
Why couldn't Logitech at least offered a similar model, that uses two batteries, for those of us who have rechargeable batteries and chargers already... Then they could have done away with the included charging cables, put on the nice slider/cover power switch, and maybe included a pouch... Frustrating...

I just wanted to add. Other than what I point out, this is really a nice mouse. I have lots of logitech products, from game controllers, steering wheels, harmony remotes, wireless keyboards, and mice. I think they are great products. I just feel a little let down about only one battery, and the no sliding on/off switch cover thing... If they put it on the anywhere, why not this one too...
