I just bought a Performance Mouse MX, and besides the other problems with

the incompatible Logitech Control Center with Snow Leopard (that have workarounds),

there is a problem with the mouse lagging after the cursor has not been moved for

awhile.  

If I stop using mouse for a minute or two, and then I move it, the cursor just sits

there until I move the mouse a bit, and then the cursor jumps around to where

I can't find it, when it catches up.

This is exasperating!   The MX Revolution didn't do that, ever, even on Snow Leopard. 

P.S.  Previous to buying the Performance Mouse MX, I had an MX Revolution.

Had it for year. It was a very nice and reliable mouse. The reason for the

replacement, is that after upgrading to Snow Leopard on the Mac the other day,

the MX Revolution was working. Suddenly it stopped working (on all machines).  

Apparently a hardware failure in the mouse or receiver.  

So I replaced it and now have this lag problem, which is serious. 

In any case, if this is a driver problem with Snow Leopard for the new mouse:

PLEASE FIX IT SOON Logitech.  I love your products.  I don't know who's

fault it is that you're so late in compatibility with Snow Leopard, you or

Apple, but someone sure screwed over their loyal paying customers.

Following the instructions here seems to have fixed the problem:

I haven't tried the other fix related to making Exposé or Spaces work directly

by creating links.  I solved the problem of Spaces not working differently:

I assign the key I want to trigger Spaces to an "Advanced Click" function,

and make the click pushing that mouse button makes "Button # 8".  

Then, in the Spaces preferences,  I also assign the triggering key to "Mouse Button 8"

And whalla!  Works the same as if I'd assigned the button to Space directly.

Very quick and works consistently.

NEVERMIND! It's NOT fixed. Latency is still there

I was wrong.  The cursor hesitates and until you move it a bit, then suddenly jumps to the new location.

Very annoying. 

Is this possibly a driver problem?

It is a hardware issue.  

On the same system (with the same Logitech software insalled),

I plugged in my wife's VX Nano and it worked perfectly.

So I went back to the store and bought a second Logitech Performance Mouse MX

(only one they had left) on the off-chance it might work, and sure enough it does.

So I'm returning the first one for a refund and keeping this one.

I have exactly the same problem with my Performance Mouse MX, on both Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Windows XP Pro SP3 (same physical mouse, I just tried it on my desktop and my laptop), in both instances using the latest SetPoint 4.80.

I'm kind of encouraged by your post - if I can get the place I bought this to exchange it and the next one works, then great. If the problem turns out to be endemic to this new mouse (or requires a firmware upgrade), then I just wasted a lot of money.

Same issue here with Snow Leopard.  Try plugging it in directly with the usb charger to the computer....latency problem gone.  Must be a sleep set/battery maximizer issue.

I had a Latency issue also.  Took the mouse back to Best Buy, and they swapped it for another one.  This one works great and no problems at all.  I have read in other posts that this seems to be an issue with some of them, but not all.  So return it where you got it from and the new one will probably be OK.

I believe the problem is with Logitech. I have just bought the new Performance Mouse MX today and I am experiencing the same problems you just described. It is very aggravating. I am running Windows 7. Snow Leopard is not the problem. I too have the MX Revolution, and the only reason for me purchasing the new MX was only for the upgrade. It is going back to the store tomorrow. It’s a real shame because I really like the new MX feel and options. I even downloaded the latest drivers from the Logitech site. Hopefully they will fix this bug soon. This is the first logitech problem I have run into, and I have owned more than 10 Logitech products.

Hi All,

I am another victim of this issue. After a period of innactivity Performance MX Logitech mouse freezes, dissapears and appears elswhere on screen as i move with the Mouse. Please advice if there is a solution to this fault. I am on Mac Snow Leopard.
