I've had my MX Revolution for over a year now and Set Point has never worked right since I bought it. Every time I install a new version the old bugs are still there. For example:
1. Set button 3 (wheel button) to "middle button" instead of "Shift Scroll Modes".
2. Go to the wheel tab and click Enabled for Smart Shift (even if it's already clicked)
3. Go back to the button settings and button 3 now says "Shift Scroll Modes" again.
The other problem is that many times a day (maybe 15 or so) it forgets my settings and I have to open SetPoint, set them all again, and close SetPoint. Actually not all but the two I mentioned above. If forgets the Smart shift setting so I open it, the Enabled button is already checked but I click on it anyway, and close it. Then sometimes I have to set the "middle button" again. That'll usually fix it for an hour or so.

Hi
,
For the problem with loosing settings/settings not saving, please try the following steps:
Find the user.xml file (located in this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name here]\Application Data\Logitech\SetPoint) and right click on it. From the pop-up menu that appears, select Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, make sure that the Read-only checkbox is NOT selected or checked under the Attributes section. Click ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’. Test if SetPoint holds its settings now.
Please ensure that you have enabled your computer to display all hidden and system file first before searching for the file above. Please follow the steps below:
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Select ‘Appearance and Themes’.
3. Select ‘Folder Options’.
4. From the dialog box that opens, select the ‘View’ tab.
5. Under the ‘Advanced settings:’ section, select ‘Show hidden files and folders’ option.
6. Click ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’.

Well I'm using Vista and the location is different, but I think I've done that before. I know I've heard it suggested to me a number of times. I tried searching for that file and Windows doesn't find it.
Displaying hidden files / folders is the first thing I do whenever installing Windows.

Hi StarfighterJ
,
SetPoint 4.7 does have some issues related to this. Have you tried using SetPoint 4.6 instead?

I cannot believe a so called profesional company like logitech still hasnt fixed the bugs with their software.
DO you they actually think that all users are so dumb that no one wants to set their mouse buttons to custom settings?
I have had this same problem listed here for maybe 2 years. I emailed them heaps of times ever since I had it.
And this idiot on the forum tlaks about setting properties for hidden files to read only. My file is NOT set to read only, and the only way it could ever possibley be SET TO READ ONLY IS IF YOUR STUPID **bleep**ING SOFTWARE DID THAT!
FIX YOUR PIECE OF **bleep** SOFTWARE!

Exact same issue(s) with Mx-Revolution, Vx-Revolution, G7, G9x ETC! These devices have worked flawlessly for YEARS, but I'm lucky if my Setpoint button assignments survive a single reboot. It's an insane juxtaposition of awesome hardware (some of the ONLY mice to fit my deformed hands) coupled with seemingly amateur rank software that refuses to work consistently.
The maddening reality is that WHEN these peripherals WORK they are a brilliant medium for us to access our favorite apps and games; a crucial link in the portal to alternative realms. The problem is the underlying software fails. OFTEN.
Inexplicably, we are denied access to our only real distraction from a mundane existence EXACTLY when we are least able to deal with a(nother) failure. Please fix Setpoint or at least add some kind of interactive app to help us understand WHY. The Frakk. it just wont bloody work. Please!
