Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing a similar issue with Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista. The problem seems to occur after resuming the computer from sleep mode. The issue is that the mouse will not right click or click on anything for that matter. The problem resolves itself after a few moments or if I go to task manager and then it starts working again. I have checked the batteries and all the obvious troubleshooting steps. I may have to roll back to a previous version of Setpoint as I have the same mouse (MX 600) at work and use Setpoint 4.60 (albeit on a Windows XP professional system) and have no problems whatsoever. Help!

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Does the problem occur if SetPoint is not present/uninstalled? This will confirm if SetPoint is the culprit.

Re: Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

I uninstalled it and just used the windows driver, and it seemed to work fine. The problem is Setpoint seemed to work fine before so I am not sure if it is any windows updates that I have installed or any other program I have updated that could be conflicting with it. I recently installed Vista SP2, but the problem still seems to be occurring. I may have to revert back to an older version of Setpoint (i.e. 4.40 or earlier) since I started having this problem with version 4.60 to begin with. :smileysad:

Re: Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

After I applied SP2 in Vista, the Optical Trackman Trackball stopped working completely. I uninstalled and reinstalled SetPoint 4.72, and the Control Panel applet for the mouse identifes both the trackball and the LX8 cordless laser mouse. But SetPoint sees only the WaveCordless keyboard and the LX8.

Re: Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

I have/had something similar and have not found a solution. I was running Vista SP1 x64 on a prior level SetPoint (out of box with the Wave Pro and MX mouse). Things were OK. I was beta'ing Windows 7 in multi-boot and have now fully switched to WIndows 7 RC with no other OS. If I install SetPoint 4.72 x64 now I get (a) extremely long to infinite time-to-sleep, (b) crashes while sleeping, and (c) no mouse clicks when it wakes up and the mouse won't wake it up.

I do a restore point to prior to the SetPoint install and everything is OK -- but no special keys on keyboard. As it is Windows 7 RC 7100, I will wait a while to see if this is a problem for others and if a solution is found.

Re: Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

The wireless keyboard and mouse become unresponsive for a while after you try to resume a Windows Vista Service Pack 2-based computer from sleep.

This KB 969711 may help you out

Re: Setpoint 4.72 in Windows Vista (SP1 or SP2)

I just installed my V450 Nano yesterday and so far it's working perfectly.  But after downloading and installing SetPoint 4.72.40 (64 bit) I find that I cannot uninstall it.

I'm running Win Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP2 on a new Toshiba laptop with 4mb RAM and the Logitech folder installed properly into Program Files [not Program Files (x86)].  When I open Control Panel, highlight the Logitech SetPoint program, and select "Uninstall" or "Change", the Uninstall Wizard begins to run, then reports an error message.... "Sorry, this version of software is not compatible with your operating system.  Please visit www.logitech.com/download to download a compatible version."

I'm presuming that the uninstall routine included in the 64 bit SetPoint download is the 32 bit version and is pointing to the wrong folder?
