In my case the unified receiver wasn't showing up in device manager at all. After copying the usb.inf and usb.PNF files into the 'C:\Windows\INF\' folder', which weren't present prior, a scan for hardware changes was performed in Device Manager. After doing so, the receiver was found, drivers loaded, and everything works great. On another note, the "FileRepository" folder containing the files wasn't exactly the same name. The folder on my system was named 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee37b8. Looking on a Win7 64 Bit Enterprise system, the folder name is the same as I found on my Win7 64 Bit Ultimate machine.
Thanks for the post TheGoof!
