Problems like the user in the following thread is having are exactly why I have no need of a non-wired version of the trackman marble in most cases: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-and-Trackballs/M570-losing-connection/td-p/660982 I do not find that even having the slightest chance of this occurring acceptable.

I started using the wired Trackman Wheel about 10 years or so ago.  I was starting to have carple tunnel problems in my right hand.  A friend suggested I try this mouse and I loved it after using it an hour or so.  The problems I was having with my hand are almost gone.  I even had my employer purchase a trackman wheel for me because I use the computer most of the day at work. 

I was surprised and upset to learn that a trackman was selling on Amazon for $192 when I paid $25 about two years ago. 

Logitech, while I really enjoy using the trackman for everyday business, I don't want to go back to the hand pain and numbness I had in the past.  I would love  the reliability of the wired trackman.  At least make it available on your website for those of us who really need this particular model for a brief period of time so we can stock up at a reasonable price.

I'm another signing up just to add my voice to this thread. I've had at least 4 of the various versions of the wired trackman. First I had the ADB (ABD? whatever it was pre-USB) version, one for home and one for the office. Now I have two USB versions, one of the older beige versions at home, one of the newer grey versions that lives in the computer bag to go to work every day. (I actually prefer the shape of the beige one -- I find it better for my wrist.) I'd have bought a third (and now wish I had) if I had had a permanent desk at work, too.

Wireless just isn't practical. I use my trackman with my laptop when travelling. I don't want the weight or expense of batteries, I don't want the hassle of replacement, I want to be able to use the trackman on plains, I want just one item to keep track of, etc.

Please, please, Logitech, rethink this decision? Indeed, you could make a really positive marketing push -- wired is greener, after all. Why not kill the wireless version as environmentally harmfull in favor of a nice green wired trackman wheel?

I agree completely. Our company has used these trackballs for years on our machines. They are the only trackballs which machine operators manage to use with some efficiency. To my horror I found one of those new "Trackman Marble" ergonomical disasters on the newest machine I installed. They are absolutely useless and are only fit for one thing: throwing in the trash can. Our machine will fail acceptance if we do not replace this torture instrument by a real trackball. I'm shocked that a decent company like Logitech replaced a wonderful product with such a piece of crap - pardon my French.

The Logitech Wireless products are rotten they are unreliable unless the batteries are fresh ... changing batteries every few weeks is a PITA ... frustrated to the point their are still pieces of the wireless trackball in the corner of the room after being smashed of the wall ... Given the Trackman Wheel with a cord is the best Ergonomic Mouse design on the planet !!! .. I wounder what the cost is to start a company making a similar device 300-400K and 3 or 4 months working with Chinese manufactures I could be up and running .. God where could i find the time ?? I am hoping someone else can fine the time .. and Logitech .. you should fire the Idiots who decided to discontinue this device !!

I must agree with everyone who's complaining about discontinuing the wired Trackman Wheel.  I am in charge of a 9-1-1 Center.   We use mutiple monitors at each workstation and a tracball is the most efficient means of moving among and between the monitors.  We have used the wired Trackman Wheel with thumb control for years and everyone's used to them.  Having to change to a finger controlled tracball is going to be an aggravation for everyone, and one I wish I could avoid.  I've reviewed user comments about the wireless Trackman and I have concerns about battery life.  I cannot afford for a battery to go dead in the mist of an emergency situation.  I URGE Logitech to PLEASE reconsider their decision to discontinue a product that has proven its reliability and loved by so many users.   I provided my contact information during registration and I'll be more than happy to discuss this matter further if you wish.   Thank you.

Like others here, I've come to depend on the Trackman wheel as my mouse of choice.

I work on a computer all day every day, and because I create a lot of tables and charts much of the mousework I have to do is very fine-tuned -- and tension-producing.   I've been using this thumb trackball mouse since 1994, after I had begun to experience serious problems with repetitive stress. This mouse quite literally saved my ability to continue in my job.

So: 15 years, same model of mouse -- & I've also purchased it for home use.

Why wired?  I used a wireless one at work for awhile, but got tired of having to continually replace the batteries.

Please reconsider your decision to discontinue this model -- the best mouse I've ever found.
