Apparently the Mods of this board do read posts as Taylarie has ecdited your post. I'd be curious as to what was changed though and am dissapointed that no one from Logitech has bothered to acknowldge us in any way to date, other than to modify your post.

I can't believe the ENTIRE WORLD is oblivious to themselves using a horrible mouse. Are we really that backwards as a planet?  Really, only a handful of us have discovered how whacking your arm all around your desk isnt a good idea?

You know this is a huge blunder for Logitech.  They create an superb product, but then do a terrible job in marketing it to the masses.  It is clear by the posts in this thread, that the rate of 'adoption' once someone tries this mouse is incredibly high.  Therefore, one could say that the users of the mouse are doing a far better job of 'selling' the product than the marketing department of Logitech.  Another problem is Logitech production/development department's failure on not improving the Trackman Wheel over the years.  I bought my first one in the 90s, and in all that time instead of evolving, it has devolved from a 3 button mouse to a 2 button one - and now, no corded version.

I just spent the last hour looking for corded versions of the Trackman Wheel online, and to my dismay - most places do not have any in stock, and what is available is incredibly overpriced - in some cases more than double the price of the new cordless version.  If that is not a sign of complete and utter incompetence by the company's marketing and development teams, then I do not know what is.

Frankly, as a user I am disappointed with Logitech, but as a businessman I smell an opportunity here.

Add me and my workplace to the list of people desperately wanting WIRED TrackMan Wheels but unwilling to pay $120+ on Ebay to get them. If they sell out so quickly then why stop making them? Seriously.

Add me to the list of people disappointed by the option to discontinue the Trackman wheel.

As the head of IT, I've pretty much mandated they be used on all computers here in the office, in lieu of much cheaper mice.  Now it seems I won't be able to supply new hires with the same mice, short of paying a small fortune on eBay for a used one.

Logitech, what is the logic behind this decision?  Clearly there is demand for this product.

I too am very upset by this change of product line. Me and my brother tried to get this trackball recently I have been buy this same basic model for over 12 years now.

I cant image using another mouse. When i go places i bring this with me I love it so much. 

Please reconsder bring the wired version back even upgraded is fine as long as the trackball is on the thumb. I think is 12 years I have bought over 6 or more of these things. 

I hope that this is just a lull as the are upgrading it . I doubt they will but I hope

I know there is a wireless version that is the same but i dont want to worry that I cant use my computer  because I ran out of batteries(SP?).

I want to add my voice to the list - I love the Trackman Wheel. My family and I have been using the trackman (not the trackman marble) since they first came out. I have 4 computers running in my house. We are all play games (WOW, Star Trek Online, Champions Online, etc.) and the logitech trackman makes playing a totally enjoyable experience. I think we have gone thru about 12 trackman's over the years(usual mechanical issues - buttons don't respond consistently, trackball does not seem to rotate as freely, etc.)

I don't mind the idea of a wireless one but I have two concerns, the cost and the batteries.

- On cost - this is a no brainer - wireless will always cost more than their wired counterparts. But replacing a device in the $ 30 range is easier to live with than an $80 dollar device.  As a gamer, I would need to tolerate problems longer before I could justify the cost of a replacement.

 - On Batteries - alot of people who use wireless devices with their pcs don't mind when the batteries start to get low. They just stop, go get batteries, and they are back in their programs. For gamers who are participating with a number of people who depend on each other for success in the game, having a couple hours play get lost because a player just lost their pointing device can be very dishearting.

I love the configuration of the Trackman Wheel. Please continue to make a device like this. The directional control with the thumb is great. But please, consider continuing to make a wired version for those of us who like the reliability.

I do love your products Logitech - I will be back to pencil and paper if you ever start doing anything else.

P.S. - I just dropped the hint to my kids that I want a G13 for Fathers Day. I think that will really up my gaming to the next level.

Just registered to express my disappointment in finding the wired Trackman Wheel is discontinued. 

Why Logitech chose to only offer the wireless version is beyond me. I usually buy two at a time.  They have a tendency to wear out (when game playing and clicking continuously) so I'm routinely replacing them and quite happy to pay the $29-$34 asking price.

Now I'm in a search for a replacement with a similar configuration.

Hoping Logitech is reading these forums and finding out that by dropping popular products like the Logitech Trackman wheel they are losing customers.

Amazon has them listed starting at $134 as of 6/14/2011. 

I may have to switch to another company that maintains their product line in a better fashion than Logitech.

As of 6/19/11, the Buy Now price I saw for a new one at Amazon.com was $165.  Logitech, perk up! The market is ripe for bringing these back.  Yes, there are 'used' ones on eBay, but heck, we already have three 'used' ones at home.  My wife wears them out playing online all day and refuses to use any other type of mouse.  Specifically, she uses the one with Part number 810-000766, model # T-BB18.  Yes, I see the "Made in China" label above the PID LZ94723 on the label.  Is this a plot by the Chinese to deprive several Americans of their favorite mouse?  Did some natural disaster wipe out the only factory that made these?

Meanwhile, I shall figure out how to refurbish my wife's Trackman mice and hopefully be able to keep at least two of the three working at any given time.

P.S.. - I don't get that 'ambidextrous' mouse design.  Not that many people are actually ambidextrous and darn few have two fingers on each side of their thumb.  (LOL!  - I am waiting for someone to photoshop a user with a thumb placed like that for the ambidextrous mouse)

P.P.S. - I just LOVE my Logitech Illuminated Keyboard for using the PC in all sorts of lighting conditions, including in the dark.

Easy to read and the lettering will NEVER wear off because the white part goes all the way through the keycap to carry light to the top.  Awesome product!.
