Windows 8 Support for Logitech M570 Trackball

When will there be drivers and software available for this product for Windows 8?

Re: Windows 8 Support for Logitech M570 Trackball

Have you tried it? Doesn't it work?

I have one and would be interested to know.

There is a new version of SetPoint (6.5). I assumed that it was designed to deal with Windows 8 stuff, but it seems to be broken in all versions of Windows. (Check the other messages here on the subject.) You could try it, but be prepared to restore your system. And keep hold of a copy of your earlier version of SetPoint.

Re: Windows 8 Support for Logitech M570 Trackball

Hello UltaSE and MichaelKenward,

I see that you both have a Wireless Trackball M570, and that you want to use it on a Windows 8 OS. The SetPoint download for Windows 8 is now available from the M570 Downloads Page.

Your M570 is a HID device, this means that it should work with your OS native drivers. But by installing SetPoint 6.50 you should be able to take advantage of the extra buttons on your M570 and change the settings to better fit your needs.

Keep on enjoying your Wireless Trackball M570.

Have you read any of the messages about SetPoint 6.5?

It is a disaster. Even people with Windows 8 find that it has killed their ability to control their devices.

Fortunately, several people also report that their hardware works OK in Windows 8 with the previous version of SetPoint.

That is why I wrote what I did and asked UltaSE if they had tried the M570 in Windows 8.

This device is still officially unsupported on Windows8. Will Logitech publish  driver or a workaround?

Re: Windows 8 Support for Logitech M570 Trackball

Hello JWR4,

The Wireless Trackball M570 is listed on the Windows 8 support for Logitech mice and keyboards. This means that it is supported on Windows 8. The software that supports the M570 on Windows 8 is SetPoint from version 6.50 till the most updated one, if you wish you can download SetPoint 6.52 from the M570 Downloads Page.

I hope that you find this information useful JWR4, please let me know if you have further concerns.

Re: Windows 8 Support for Logitech M570 Trackball

It might work without SetPoint, a lot of the drivers are basic Microsoft stuff, but you will need the software if you want to customise buttons or control things like the speed of the cursor.
