Mice and Pointing Devices

Just wondering if anyone has been able to get a marble mouse USB to work with windows 7 64 professional.  I've tried it with and without the latest setpoint software and when the PC sleeps the mouse must be plugged into any USB port other than the one it was plugged into prior to the PC going into sleep mode for it to work when the PC wakes up.  If not any recommendations for a trackball from another manufacturer that DOES work?
