uncontrollable scrolling

I am the Logitech wireless m310 optical mouse that I use with my laptop. I have been using it without issue for over a year until this past weekend when it started uncontrollably scrolling up and down on any web browser or program. If the mouse is at the top of a window the scrolling stops until I move the mouse down to the page then the page goes nuts making it impossible to do anything.

When I turn off the mouse (or remove the usb controller) it stops. I do not have the problem when using the laptop's trackpad.

I am running Win 7.

When I use the mouse the trackpad on the laptop is disabled so no conflict there.

The battery indicator in the setpoint software says the battery is good. I put in new batteries about 3 months ago.

Is there a fix??

Re: uncontrollable scrolling

Hi Nikkiekoala,

You can check the following factors stated below to help us isolate the issue with regards to the uncontrollable scrolling of your Wireless Mouse M310:

  • Have you installed the application called Flow Scroll in your computer? If you did, try to uninstall it and observe if the issue is still there.
  • Is the problem application-specific (web browser related only) or can it be observed to other applications as well?
  • Have you installed Logitech Setpoint? If you did, does the problem still exist even if you uninstall the software?
  • If Setpoint is installed, try to program the middle click as "Do Nothing". Observe if the issue is still there.
  • Does the problem occur even when you move the mouse to another computer?

If most of the answer is yes, try applying a short power drain. Remove the battery off the mouse. Press and hold the left and right click button along with the middle click (scroller) for 15 seconds. Release the buttons and re-install the battery. Observe the difference after that.

Feel free to post back for further updates. :smileywink:

Re: uncontrollable scrolling

Thanks for your reply.

I do not have Flow Scroll installed.

The problem is not Application Specific. It happens in all programs.

I have Setpoint installed. I uninstalled AND I tried setting the middle button to do nothing. The problem still exists.

I currently don't have another computer to connect the mouse to so I don't know if the problem will still exist.

I have had this mouse for at least a year now with no problems. Nothing has changed on my computer.

I also tried your suggestion of a doing a power drain. It didn't help either :smileysad:

Re: uncontrollable scrolling

Hi Nikkiekoala,

This sounds like a hardware-related issue. :smileysad:

I suggest for you to contact Logitech Technical Support in your region for further information in placing a warranty claim. Your Wireless Mouse M310 has a limited hardware warranty period of 3 years from the date of purchase.
