ClearChat Style non-usb vista issues

I recently bought a clearchat style heaphone/mic set.

I have previously used this product on windows xp system with no problems however since i started using vista i haven't been able to get the mic to work.

The headphones work perfectly, however my laptop wont recognise the mic at all. I can't get it to work in games or on programs like ventrillo.

Is this a common issue or is there any possible fixes.

I've also checked the basics such as sound card and checked that nothing is muted.

- Vista

- Headpones work: Microphone wont

- Non usb ClearChat Style headset

Okay so it seems that this is a combination of a vista+logitech issue.

Avoid logitech when using vista. Thanks for the all the help.

Re: ClearChat Style non-usb vista issues

Hi,

This not a Logitech issue. Your headset connects to your sound card. There are no drivers for the headset, only for your sound card. There are no "settings" for the headset other than for your sound card and the application you are using the headset for.

If the headset worked with your XP computer's sound card then the only difference is the settings for your Vista sound card.

Analog (non-USB) headsets will work with MP3 players and cell phones which have no operating system and no setting variables.

I am not trying to be non-responsive, but this has to do with knowing your computer and its capabilities.

The packaging can be misleading when you read "Works with Windows" but there is nothing that the operating system connects to for mic and headphone use other than the sound card in the case of analog sound products.

I have been trying to get those OS references off the packaging but our Marketing division says that they "have" to be there. I say it causes nothing but confusion and generates posts like this one.

Thank you for your post.

Re: ClearChat Style non-usb vista issues

Thats fair enough. I guess the OS details must have to be on the packaging for either legal/marketing reasons.

Its just frustrating knowing that the headset works on some computers but not others.

Thanks for the response.
