Ok so I bought this desktop Logitech mic to use with Skype....it works on my friends' Dell laptop without any problem but I plug it into mine and NOTHING HAPPENS. I have tried all the ways Windows says to "install a microphone" but I still never get any option for audio input other than SigmaTel, and whenever I try to configure my mic or use Sound Recorder I get no response. Should I just return this mic while I still can, or is there some way to fix this?!
Thanks for ANY help!

I'm having the same problem, trying to use a logitech microphone in the plugin jack. The mike works fine on another computer, both are Dell, btw, but not on this. I've followed every process I could find. The speech recognition system can hear it, but not the recorder the skype test call. Any suggestions out there?

i know that when i got my mic at first it didnt work. It still goes on and off in working. When i plugged it in i had to modify my sound devices to unmute my mic. Well i would just play a little more. Make sure you match the colors for the wires. pink goes in the Pink one. My computer also never "recognized" a new device. it just kinda worked. Maybe it is a bad mic, i would return it and get a new one if it persists. But make sure the new one is a Logitech because that is why we are here! lol ty

If the microphone works fine on another computer and not on yours, the problem is most probably related to your sound card drivers. Your best option would be to contact your sound card manufacturer.
