Microphones (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

Hi for the last couple of days I have been using the Logitech® Desktop Microphone P/N: 980240-0403 microphone. It was nice and easy. But since today, I cannot get it work anymore. It just stopped working all of a sudden. My sounddevice is Realtek AC 97. How do I get my computer to recongize my Logitech microphone as the default recording device?

I would like you to test your microphone on Windows Sound Recorder on your PC:

1. Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment and choose Sound recorder
2. Click record button and speak to see whether the green line moves to indicate the application picks the sound.
3. Click on Stop button and Play to check the sound. Make sure the device is selected
4. Click Edit Then Audio Properties and make sure that the correct device is listed as preferred device for Sound Recording.

Please let me know if you are able to record using Windows Sound Recorder on your PC. With this information, I will be able to advice you on how to proceed further.

Same with me! My microphone somehow became uninstalled and is no longer listed as a recording device. How do I get it installed again?

In regards to your issue, you can try to reinstall the sound card drivers to address this. There is no installation files or drivers for the mic.

Hiya, I have had the same problem i brought mine 3 weeks ago and all of a sudden it no longer works in-game.....I followed your instructions and recorded fine. It played back fine as well........Have you a solution for this

Same problem with the exception that the mic doesnt work unless you're speaking within a cm from the mic.

i've already updated my sound card and the mic still doesn't work.

Same problem. Microphone stopped working and is no longer recognized by windows. Cannot use Accessories/Sound recorder to record as you suggestred. It is as if the microphone simply disappeared as far as my computer is concerned. Sterio Mix is showing under sounds but no microphones or recording devices are green. Win7 RealTek High Definition Audio.
