Hi - while I was searching this forum to find and answer to exactly the same problem, the Logitech mic suddenly appeared in the list. As usual, I can't tell which step led me to the solution, but one you might try that I went through is:
Control Panel
Add hardware
Next
Let it scan
Yes, I have already installed
Choose Logitech Mic (Communicate STX) from the list and click Next
Windows will now tell you the device is working properly
Try your audio preferneces window now, and the Mic should (might) show up at the end of the list.
Good Luck!

I have a VXI Talk Pro USB 200 microphone and it works fine with my old laptop running on XP. It does not work with windows vista so far. It does not show up on the device manager list. I tried adding it using the add hardware function but VXI is not on the "preferred" list of manufacturers so I could not add it. On the control panel my only choice for recording is a Real Tek which I do not use. My USB ports are working fine and my computer recognizes the mic when I plug it in going through the usual steps. Any one have any ideas? I'm calling the manufacturer tomorrow...
Thanks for any help.
