Custom sequence associated with changing activities

I've got my 650 working with all my devices properly, but I'd like to customize the sequence when changing activities.  Specifically I use the TV volume watching our Roku, but the receiver volume when watching the DirecTV.  The Roku only goes to the TV so that is the only place I can adjust the volume, the DirecTV goes to the TV via HDMI and reciver via digital audio.  Once I get a new receiver with HDMI, this issue will go away.  For now, since I don't want sound coming out of the TV and the receiver so when switching to DirecTV from the Roku I turn the TV volume all the way down (not mute because the TV has an annoying mute icon then) then hit the 'Watch Tv' activity and everything works fine.  To go from DirecTV to the Roku I hit the 'Watch Roku' activity then have to turn the TV volume back up.  The buttons are mapped properly to do this, but I would like to modify the activity sequences so that 'Watch TV' actvity sequence automatically turns the TV volume all the way down before it turns the receiver on and the 'Watch Roku' activity sequence automatically turns the TV volume back up after turning the receiver off.  I don't need to worry about the receiver volume because that just remains at the last setting and is turned on/off as needed.

Thanks,

Jayson

Re: Custom sequence associated with changing activities

This is a very common issue. If you use the old 7.7 stand-alone software, you can add the necessary vol commands to the start of your activities. This is impossible on myharmony.com. However, if you switch to 7.7, you'll have to build your config from scratch. But it's well worth the effort to get sequence capabilities, activity editing, and several other features back.

FWIW, Xsight remotes can accomplish this easily because you can specify a hold duration for each command in a macro. So instead of 15 or 20 VOL- commands, you just use a single VOL- command with a duration of 4 seconds or so. I highly recommend Xsight instead of harmony because they are not only cheaper and better in nearly every way, they also give you unlimited macro capabilities. Food for thought.
