Not working for me.

I have a harmony 700 - everything was working great for the last 6 months using myharmony.com - then I went to add a new Mac Mini device, and found that I go the "Can't Sync" error message. I read this and numerous other threads. I then tried downloading the harmony software and tried to update the remote using that. It worked, (sort of) but I lost all of my icons and you can't upload icons using the software, nor can you custom name any actions or devices (for example, to use my mac mini, the action is called "Generic Action". )  

I thought since I lost all my icons, I could go back to myharmony.com and re-add them, but no, myharmony.com is still not working, still getting the "Can't Sync" (after clearing my cache, resetting silverlight and following all other instructions given). 

I don't understand why this does not work and if this is "just the way it is" with no icons and no ability to custom name actions/devices, then I won't be purchasing any more logitech products in the future and will be looking to replace this remote with something else soon.

Logitech, this seems to be a widespread problem with anyone trying to update their device.  I would be interested to know if anyone is looking into it.  I bought this remote with the expectation that I would be able to update the settings as necessary.  Right now I'm just trying to update my favorite channels, but what am I supposed to do if I buy a new component and want to program the remote to work with it?  Being unable to update the device is unacceptable.

I should note that I started this proces using a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and then tried the exact same steps/fixes on a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 7 - with the EXACT same results: 

"can't sync" error message on myharmony.com 

and the inability to add icons or custom names for actions utilizing the downloaded software from logitech. 

Logitech, please respond to this issue, let us know that you're aware of it, and give us an ETA for a fix and please notify us when this fix happens. Right now, I'm a very unhappy customer to have such a great product essentially rendered useless.

At this time the custom icons are not supported on the Harmony 700 or Harmony 650.

We do not have a timeline if this will change.

For other trouble syncing after adding favorite channels see if you have to use the "." or "-" commands for the channels. If you have to use them then you will need to make sure you learn those commands from the original remote.

I bought the 700 remote BECAUSE it supported icons, it handled icons when I purchased it. In fact it says right on the box: 

"COLOR SCREEN WITH CHANNEL ICONS"  (complete with a photo of the remote, showing channel icons for ABC & TalkTV.

Now you're telling me "it's not supported" ????  

I didn't add a new favorite channel, I added a mac mini (and then deleted it) still can't sync!

They should still be supported in the 7.7 software though I haven't tried it in ahwile

I had never used the 7.7 software until yesterday, and no, icons are not supported in the 7.7 software. In fact, just connecting with the 7.7 software deleted all the icons I had on the remote. 

Also, you can't even name an action in the 7.7 software, when I tried to create an action for my Mac Mini - it names it "Generic Action" with no way to change it. 

It's really frustrating to purcahse a product, and really enjoy it for 6 months, only to have the products software competely change making it virtually unusable.

Hello Chai_Guy,

Custom Icons are a bit different then the default ones.

Are you using your own custom icons or are you using the default ones?

Also did you check my other suggestion?

I stumbled across this problem today too. Everything has been working fine on my Harmony 700 for about 8 months, including custom icons for favorite channels. I tried to update my remote today and couldn't get it to sync; searching for a solution led me here. I removed all of my favorite channel icons (which took quite a bit of work to set up) and PRESTO, the remote will sync. This is a temporary fix because I should be able to have custom icons, but at least now my remote can update settings if the need arises.
