Panasonic TV HDMI 4 (GAME) Input

I've read several posts about getting the Harmony Remote to go to the HDMI 4 input on a Panasonic Plasma TV, as HDMI 4 isn't listed in the choices of inputs when selecting Method 2 in the Harmony software. I have found a solution for my Panasonic model TH-58PZ800U.

Panasonic does have a dedicated IR signal for HDMI 4 and there is a button for it on the TV remote- it is the "GAME" button on the bottom! In the TV device setup use the Method 2 for setting the inputs (InputHDMI1, InputComponent1, etc) and when you get to the HDMI 4 there is no 'InputHDMI4' so, make the remote learn the command. It works great!

I only have the HDMI 4 input named "GAME" but I read in the Panasonic manual if you name more than one input "GAME" it will bring up the input menu so you can cycle through, I don't know how the Harmony Remote would handle this. I would suggest not naming two inputs "GAME".

Happy Harmony!

Re: Panasonic TV HDMI 4 (GAME) Input

Finally, a solution!

For my Panasonic VT-25, the HDMI4 also does not work.

Here's what I did: in my Activities section of the Harmony One remote, when you get to choose what Input is needed to play your Xbox / Console, tell the remote software that the input is not listed.  You then can create a new input name (I called mine "xbox") and in the drop down menu for this, choose "GAME".  You don't even have to point the Panasonic remote at the Harmony remote.  For some reason, simply pointing the HDMI4 to GAME doesn't work.  I actually had to create a new input.
