I have been having sync issues since Christmas. The cause is unknown. This is all I get.
I have crawled the posts and helpful hints from non-Logitech members, and although the volume is helpful, it is painful to have to do all this work for a CONSUMER PRODUCT.
I finally found resolution to my "unable to sync" issue, although I hesitated at first because of the effort required to get it to work. To put it bluntly, the MyHarmony.com website is a waste of time. You must, MUST download the software (v7.7.0), and have eternal patience for the connect to the home server. Then set up a new account (no, your MyHarmony account will not work on this software), and re-build your entire system layout. I highly suggest that you collect your hardware and connection information before sitting down, as I was reminded how much of a pain it is to crawl behind your equipment to find the model numbers.
Here is the link to the software, which will save you a search through about 5 pages on this site (BTW, having to click through 5 pages for a customer to get what they want is also a design issue):
I apologize for not having a better answer, but it is clear that Logitech does not have the time or inclination to support it's customers. I am FURIOUS that there is not one helpful artilce on this from Logitech, and that Logitech has done little to address the issues. DaneHarmony and then finally CatLogitech (assuming these are group names for many Logitech employees) have provided little to no support here. I confirm that my 650 works as desired now. For those of you who are considering buying one of these devices, please be advised that should anything go wrong, you will need to be technically minded and willing to wade through pages of reference materials to resolve your issue.
To Logitech, I am once again disappointed that you have pushed your design incompetence to the end user. I understand that this is cultural, and I hope that you have the intelligence in your next design to consider engaging your customer base in the solution design, test, and post design issues. Please also address your social domains, as these forums are supposed to provide help and keep your customers (and engineering teams!) engaged. I understand that the typical extroverted engineer is one that looks at your shoes instead of his own, but you must overcome this.
Having issues with complex technology is expected, but ignoring those with issues or not providing support does not make your product flawless or your customers stupid. Those engineering companies that accept that they are not experts all of the time, and that things may be flawed even after design typically provide the best support, and generate the biggest customer bases.

First, thanks for the help. I just started to have this problem, and this post saved me an hour+ of searching the forum, like I had to do with every other problem I've had.
I don't understand how Logitech can put the effort forth to produce high quality and useful hardware, and render it all useless by having some of the worst software and tech suport I've ever seen. Everytime I want to update my 650, I spend far more time trying to log in than I actually do updating the remote. And even afterI finish, half the buttons and activities don't work like I programmed them to. The button I use most on the remote is the help button, which is unbelievable. I've also learned way more from the users of the forum than the tech support team, who's only solution I've seen for any problem is update software and clear cache. These do not work. This is ungodly frustrating.

Thanks for the post. I too have been having issues with myharmony.com not syncing my device, and it's been driving me up the wall (almost to the point where I want to throw the remote in the bin).
I even rebuilt my laptop because I thought perhaps that had something to do with it (the stock / bundled toshiba apps can be awfully annoying). Needless to say I wasn't impressed when it did the same thing as soon as I tried to sync again.
I'm off to go give the HarmonyRemote v7.7.0 software a go now. I tried looking for it before but this is the first place I managed to find it! I'm guessing logitech are moving away from downloadable software and moving more towards stupid "Web-Apps".
Don't get me wrong, Logitech Make some half decent devices with plenty of bling, but I'll think twice before choosing their products in the future, given the lack of support I've found so far and the abysmal myharmony.com website. I put half the blame on silverlight, too. If they're going to make a web based application why not use a platform that supports other operating systems?

Thank you for your informative post. I'm going to try the 7.7 approach in the absence of any useable info from Logitech. How do Logitech get away with such appalling customer care?

Nah just spent an hour trying to understand 7.7.0 and dumped the lot. When I program activity to Watch A Movie it will only recognise my Video Recorder (VCR). I wanted it to switch on my DVD, Surround Sound System and TV ... but it just defaults to VCR and does not give DVD option .. or Surround Sound. This version responds differently to MyHarmony and does not recognise devices in the same way. So no further on!!!!!!!

When you use the 7.7 software to create an Activity, always select the second option to create the Activity manually. You can then add the device that you want, also to create an activity to include the DVD player, be sure you use the 'Watch DVD or Laserdisc' activity

Dear Forum User. I experience the same problems in the moment. No way to synchronize! On the other hannd I must tell you that I needed some support to get my Harmony 700 up and running. I obtained this support from different persons within the organisation of Logitech. This support was and is excellent and very professional.
I suppose that many Harmonies were sold as Christmas gifts and hundreds of people are trying to get their Christmas gift to operation while the support people are have their Christmas Holidays. I found already that that Logitech server crashed completely for many hours. Luckily my harmony works fine. I tried to add another activity, but ran in the mentioned problem of "no sync". I am convinced, that Logitech will solve this problem in the next few days.
I have been using an universal remote control of another manufacturer for many years, but the Harmony is far superior. Up to now I am very happy with the product. Allow the Logitech personnel a few holidays. I am still confident, that this issue will be resolved.
Happy new Year to all of you

Thanks for the helpful post! I got the repeated cannot sync message. Downloaded the software (the link you gave didn't work; they've changed the site. Found the s/w after a little searching). Used the software and it worked fine. Thanks so much for saving me hours of frustration.

I could not update my 650 on Myharmony.com to switch from Direct TV to Dish Hooper. I tried the other approach of loading their 7.7.0 software tool on my laptop and syncing the remote. That turned into a very time consuming, frustrating mess so I removed it. I figured out that all you need is to fully reset your Logitech remote, and then go through the re-sync process using the Myharmony.com web tool. It took about 30 seconds to sync up once I figured it out. Link and their directions below:
If your remote is not behaving properly, you can reset it. To do so, remove one of the batteries, hold down the All Off button, and reinsert the battery. A message will appear on the remote screen indicating that the remote has entered safe mode. Next, connect the remote to your computer and sync it. The remote should now be updated and functioning properly.
