Re: Sony BDV N790W

I have also run into the same issue of the remote not selecting the correct input based on the programming. If another activity is used, say DVD using input HDMI2, but the next activity is Watch TV using input HDMI1 then input HDMI1 is not selected. Have gone through the on remote troubleshooting, attempted changing some of the default timing values (delay between commands and delay after startup before issuing a command), and a few other means but no success. Considering a return on the BDV-N790W if I cannot find a resolution in a responsible amount of time. Have had the Harmony One for a few years now without a major issue like this to date.

Have any of you found a solution to these issues?

Re: Sony BDV N790W

Your devices uses METHOD1 or TOGGLE. So you need to check the LIST of inputs on your device if it matches the list of inputs on your logitech software. Make sure that they are on the right list the sameway as you see on the device itself. Update your remote and if it doesnt go to the right input that is the time for you to play with the delays.

I don't need kudo's BUT accept the solution if it helps you solve your issue. So others with the same problem can see it too. :smileyhappy:

What do you mean by "delays"? Are you talking about the Function button and essentially scrolling through the inputs and adding delays ontop of that?

Re: Sony BDV N790W

I'm talking about Input Delay, Power On Delay and Inter Device Delay.

If you're using Logitech Remote Software you can adjust it under the DEVICE SETTINGS

And if you're using H650 and H700 you can adjust it by pressing the HELP BUTTON for about 6-8 seconds.

Re: Sony BDV N790W

Those having issues using a Harmony remote with the Sony BDV-N790W, especially with switching inputs on the receiver, with a little time, thought and last but not the least, customer support from Logitech, I have setup my Harmony One to work with my Sony BDV-N790W. I have 4 different activities setup and the inputs on the Sony BDV-N790W are now being switched correctly by the Harmony One remote as they should.

Not sure how many of you noticed this, but when you start changing inputs using the OEM remote, the first time you press the 'Function' button, it does not change the input, it only displays the input that is currently in use. So, the input that's in use doesn't change to the next option until you press the 'Function' button twice with minimal time lag, i.e., if you want to switch from 'HDMI 1' to 'HDMI 2' when 'HDMI 1' is set, you have to press the 'Function' button twice (in quick succession) on the OEM remote.

The Harmony One remote though, assumes that if you press 'Input Next' once, the input actually changes but as I mentioned above it doesn't. So, as it turns out, on each of your activities that use the BDV-N790W, under the turn on sequence, you need to add an extra 'Input Next' for the BDV-N790W. Doing this increased my input selection success rate to about 70%. On messing with the settings and time delays a little bit more, I got them to where they were still off, but only to an extent that they would end up one click short or over. At this point, I finally gave up and called Harmony tech support (my remote is still within the initial 90 day phone support period). The agent that helped me didn't mess with any of my other device or activity settings but only the delay timing for the Sony BDV-N790W. Below is what he set them to:

Power on: 17000
Inter key: 0
Input: 0
Inter device: 0

While I still had him on the phone, I checked out every possible activity sequence with the Harmony One and it all worked fine. Only quirk is that I have to hold the Harmony aimed at my entertainment center for much longer than one would expect. Those who have issues might try setting up like I did with the additional 'Input Next' and using the delay settings listed above. I hope it helps!

Re: Sony BDV N790W

I'm going to attempt to use the settings you supplied, however, I'm unable to locate the power on delay you referenced. May be due to my remote being an 880 instead of a One. I sent an email to Logitech, but since you had this problem back in August and tech support was unable to fully correct the issue I won't hold my breath over it.

Re: Sony BDV N790W

No the Delays are located in the same spot.  Go Devices, Your device, Settings, Adjust Delays.
